Hunter Humidifier - Care Free Humidifier Plus - 33252 —

To the Point

The Hunter Low-Maintenance CareFree Humidifier Plus is one of several humidifiers we have in our house. Not only do our fingers crack but our hardwood floors expand if we don't keep humidifiers going.

A Closer View

This has a 1.75 gallon tank and is said to be good for rooms up to 1350 square feet. We have it in our living room with another smaller one on the other side and it never has gotten up to the humidity level we want. The output of 2.5 gallons is how much humidity it will put in the air.

I guess the NiteGlo that we have, which not all models have, is a cute little option if you keep it in a child's room; however, unless it is on low it's very noisy. During the day I keep it on low so I can hear myself think!

The NiteGlo will work even if the humidifier isn't on. It has a high and low option.

It weighs about 9 pounds and measures about 13 inches across by 11 ½ inches wide by 12 ½ inches high. When filling this it gets very heavy in spite of the handle!

One advantage some may think is the PermaWick Filter. This means you never have to change the filter. That sounds great but in reality it isn't. The filter gets dirtly and has to be cleaned. I compare it to my vents on my microwave which seem to always need cleaning. Although the material says that this humidifier won't get mineral residue build up we have found that it does. It has a pump system so the moisture output goes into a pan/tray.  The pan/tray is large and not easy to wash. The pan and tank are dishwasher safe but I don't have a dishwasher large enough to put this tank in!

It has a 5-year limited warranty and runs about $70.00

Jo's Viewpoint
In spite of all the negatives I am recommending it because of the large capacity. The small ones we have I fill up about three times a day!

Sounds great actually. When I was little I used to fall asleep to the noise of the vacuum. Of course I also slept between my mom and the stove when she was cooking. (Weird kid, haha). Good thing she never dropped anything. Hmm I always wondered where I got that scar.

Hmmm never thought of that! We do have a fireplace. Jo from Boston:)

Great review Jo......I however use the Redneck humidifier, the old cast iron pot in the fireplace trick...lol Our water is from a well and it's bad enough in the coffee pot as built up mineral deposits go. So rather than ruin a humidifier I just do it the old fashioned way ;) ROn

Well actually our basement gets damp so we have about 3 dehumidifiers down here. They are probably all canceling each other out:) Jo

We have the opposite problem. Most of the year there's too much humidity. :>
