Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes —

We have been through a LOT of baby wipes around here. We discovered rather quickly that a baby's skin can be VERY sensitive. After much trial and error, we found that Huggies Natural Care baby wipes worked pretty well for us, but with our third child we stopped using wipes because she tended to get a rash with ALL wipes and we found that it costs much less to use paper towels.

What I like about Huggies:

  • Was just about the ONLY wipe that didn't break out my first two children (we found that these could even be used for a newborn if we rinsed the chemicals out under warm tap water first)
  • Convenient (unless needing to rinse them out)
  • Size worked well
  • Easy to find in the stores
  • Can find coupons fairly often
  • Could buy in more economical large bags with a seal in the top and refill the smaller wipe box

What I don't like about Huggies:

  • I found that using a wet paper towel costs a lot less and does pretty much the same thing (I'm seriously considering going with homemade cloth wipes and diapers soon).
  • If you don't seal the top of the bag just right, you'll have a bag of dried out baby wipes--you can still use them by running them under tap water.
  • I tried some that were thicker, softer and almost like a washcloth but they tended to cost more.
  • I don't like all the chemicals that are in diaper wipes.
  • These are not flushable.

My Viewpoint:

We've stopped using commercially made diaper wipes, and I think we have saved a load of money by doing so. If you are really looking to save lots of money, you may wish to consider going with cloth diapers/wipes (the cheapest would be making them at home with supplies you have around the house and there are a lot of websites with free patterns available). If you wish to use commercially prepared wipes, Huggies Natural Care baby wipes have worked pretty well for us in the past and that's why I'm giving them a thumbs up. They tended to cause less skin problems than most of the other brands and were of average quality.
