Took the family to Hub51 tonight. My wife went with some friends last week and has been raving about how great it was. There is no doubt the Melman brothers have designed Hub 51 for their hipster friends. Being 38 and with kids and taking our 84 year old Aunt out to dinner with us, we are most certainly not their target diner.
Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves and walked away happy customers. I had the pulled pork tacos which I have to say were quite good. I am not usually a pulled pork kind of guy, but I was very happy that I ordered this dish. The tacos were soft and less doughy than one might expect. My 7 year old ordered the dry rubbed ribs but did not like them as much as he typically likes ribs. A bit too froofy for him with chives and peanuts. I tasted one and we pronounced them highly average. My wife ordered the 3 green bites and devoured them. She pronounced them outstanding. Our Aunt ordered the Chicken Nachos as her dinner. The dish was massive but looked a bit overdone to me.
We got their at 5pm and left by 6:15pm. I am quite sure that Hub 51 is hopping later in the evening, but for us early diners it was an overall good experience.
P.S. The Belgium Lager - Delerium was a good call.
