House Party.com is an on line website and service that much like Bzzagent.com  gives regular people the chance to sample products, services, and even television shows before other people, or as the new products become available to the public.

How House Party.com Works

You visit the home page, and register to become a member. This does mean filling out a rather comprehensive personal information plan.  Next you "explore' current and future house party events that they are accepting applications for.  If you find one you think you would enjoy, you choose "apply" and fill out another almost 30 questions about your life and party habits.  Then, you wait.  If you are chosen, you will receive an email message stating that you are one of 1000 people chosen to host a house party.  If not, nothing happens.  You need to visit often to see what house parties are available to host and apply for them.  House parties are meant to be held on a specific day - with all parties being held the same day, but they are flexible and you simply post the day and time of your party as close to the designated date as possible.

House Party parties vary, but all have one common theme, to tell or share with others information about products, services, television shows, movies -- whatever the "special of the month is.  Current events have featured:

  • Arm and Hammer Essentials Cleaners
  • Kellogg's Live Bright Breakfast Bars
  • Saturn
  • Ford
  • Canon (this one everyone got a free photo printer)

Upcoming events include:

  • Better Homes and Gardens
  • Microsoft X box
  • TNT Leaverage (new television show starring Timothy Hutton)
  • Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Tara Leigh Music Party and Aerobed

Events and opportunities are updated frequently with new opportunities on the site each time I visit.

What is a House Party from House Party.com?

This part is easy. If you are chosen as a host you will receive an email notification. You confirm your participation.   You set up the personalized party website on House Party.com and use the site to issue your invitations, keep track of rsvps, find out about the House Party.com gifts and prizes coming your way to share with your party guests.  You can also download party games and information about the products.  You have a blog that you and guest can post messages too before and after the event.  You can also post pictures of the party to share.

What is the Purpose of  House Party? This is to get the word out to consumers about new things, whether it is a product or service.  Past parties have also included information and events for charities.

My Viewpoint: House Party.com allows me to not only be "in the know" before others about new products, services, events, or shows, but to share this knowledge with others.  I have been a member 3 months and chosen twice to host a house party -- one for Live Bright Breakfast Bars and one for Arm and Hammer Essentials.  My party packages are enormous.  Each box when it arrives has information on the products, valuable and numerous coupons, and not just samples of the products but full size samples.  In my recent shipment I received full size packages of Arm and Hammer Fridge Fresh and Arm and Hammer Essentials All Purpose Cleaner, Cleaner Degreaser and Glass Cleaner.  It also includes great "gifts' to give away like microfiber clothes and "green" tote bags for shopping.  All I have to do is the things that come naturally to me -- have a bunch of people over for food and drink and give everyone a chance to take their goodies home and the opportunity to know things before others do and then share that knowledge.

Another really wonderful tool on the site is the ability to keep your party somewhat private.  A great number of my friends are uncomfortable with my using their email address on the site, so I don't have to.  House Party.com also provides you with tools to invite people by printed invitation or forward a message to your own address to forward to others so your friends and family don't feel "exposed."  You can also mark your blog and pictures as private so that only House Party.com can view them as well as the invited guests, or it can be shared on the national blog.  I like that I can tailor the events to fit the guests wishes.

House Party.com is an amazing site full of opportunities.  Some may consider it troublesome to apply and wait, others may not like the fact that they are not chosen to host.  But we have to remember that this is a promotion site, and they are looking for a specific type of person for each event, this type may change.  I am willing to wait, and there are one or two I truly wish I had been chosen for like Fisher Price or Canon, but I have been thrilled so far with the site. It gives you all you need to share the wealth of your free samples as well as the excuse to have a party.

This sounds like fun! Who doesn't want to hang out with their friends while receiving free stuff? Thanks for a great review.

In response to nyflare's comment from Nov 9, 2008 at 8:59PM:

You can sign up one of two ways -- on the home page click LOG IN on the far right hand upper corner. You then get the page that allows you to log in. At the bottom of that page it says if you don't have an account register here.
You can also view events, and choose one to apply for. When you access that one that you want to apply for, then you are also walked through the registration process.

Whoa... I totally forgot about this one. I signed up way long ago when you first told me about it and never though about it again. I'll have to get back there soon.

I'm having a house party next month for Alpine Lace Cheese and Sex and the City. Not sure why they combined them but we get to watch the movie and eat cheese. lol. I'm excited. It's my first one.
