Hotslings pouches are beautiful, simple, and surprisingly comfortable.  They work from birth through toddlerhood, too, unlike the ugly and more expensive frontpacks they often compete with.  Don't let the simplicity of design fool you into thinking it doesn't work, or that something with clips and straps would be better ... Hotslings pouches are quite comfortable and utilitarian.  They fold down small enough to easily stash in a diaper bag, and they work for carrying a baby on your front, hip, or (with a baby with head and torso control) back.  I remember getting admiring comments at a fast food restaurant (don't tell anyone) when I was carrying my baby on my hip to order, then simply (and quickly) scooted him around to my back to take my tray to the table.  The only downside is that they are fitted, and they must be sized properly to be comfortable for the mom (or dad) and baby.
