Hotel del Coronado Review Summary

The Hotel del Coronado scores high marks from leisure travelers. Reviewers described the “Hotel del” as “grand yet quaint”, having great views, a relaxing atmosphere and “a ton of interesting history”. One con is that the hotel is not located directly in San Diego, so a rental car may be useful. Interestingly, the Hotel del Coronado is a historic landmark and, therefore, it still has some of it's original plumbing and heating systems. It might be a short wait for hot water. I stayed at Hotel Del Cornado several years ago because my company was hosting a customer symposium there.  We had about 75 people attend.  The setting was extremely relaxing and luxurious. The feedback from our clients was overwhelmingly positive.   It is hard not to relax when you are right...

The "Hotel Del" bills itself as one of the top resorts in Southern California, located on the ocean on Coronado Island, across the bay from San Diego. It is overpriced and front desk staff were notably rude and incompetent. The rooms are so-so for what they charge. I guess they figure people are willing... read full review »

As a long time resident of San Diego, I had many times visted the Hotel Del Coronado, even hosted a company event there, yet I had never laid my head on one of their fluffy pillows.  That all changed in April, and I can guarantee, they have me hooked and I will be a return visitor.

While the the "Del" as it's commonly reffered to, is not in downtown San Diego, it's within a 20 minute drive via the Freeway.  For those of you that fear driving over bridges - this might not be the hotel for you, it is on an Island and you must cross the Coronado Bridge to ge there.  I find Coronado a quaint little...

I absolutely love the Hotel Del. I have been here several times and each visit I liked it more and more. It is among my favorite places to visit. I love staying here when traveling to San Diego.

What I like about the Hotel Del

  • The minute you walk in the hotel, you feel as though you entered into a grand, yet quaint hotel bound to be filled with interesting characters-- hence-- "where is Marilyn Monroe?"
  • The Hotel Del offers a series of different room options and something that would please everyone. They have the main/traditional building (with an elevator operated by a man!) that houses Victorian...

I went to a medical convention here in 2005. I was enticed by the reputation of the hotel. Go to "the Del" everyone said and they were right. I was placed on the third floor room overlooking the courtyard. The whafting sounds of live jazz could be heard in the evening. Everyone from royality to presidents have stayed here and so can you. The hotel has impecable service and even better oceanside margaritas. You can walk directly from the backdoor of the hotel to the beach. I even heard that the hotel was built without a finished blueprint and some of the stairs end into a wall due to technical... read full review »

The Travel Channel was our ticket to this fabulous hotel.  After watching their broadcast, we had to go!

Hotel Del Coronadolocated on the quaint island of Coronado in beautiful San Diego, CA. The meaning of Coronado is "crowned one."  Hotel Del Coronado is one of America's most beautiful beach resorts.  This classic historic hotel, known as The Del, was built in 1888 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. The Delgives travelers luxury in an enchanting Victorian atmosphere, with an exceptional beach-front location.  The Del is a perfect romantic retreat or family vacation...

The Hotel Del is an amazing place to Visit or stay.  It is a Historical Landmark.  The only con to it being a Historical landmark is that they can not change things like the plumbong pipes and heating system or anything inside the Hotel itself.  It is a 5 star hotel and its service is legendary But some people stay there and complain becuase their water flow in their sinks were slow and the shower tookto long to heat up. What they dont understand is those pipes are from the early 1800's. They can't change those.  Other than that Hotel Del is awesome!!!!!

There is no beating the setting of The Del. It's old school San Diego -- lovely grounds, gracious staff, etc. Some rooms are better than others. Try to get around the pool. This will give you a lovely ocean view and an opportunity to people watch. The only downside is the food -- it's a bit big banquet hall style, even though though they try. Better to bring in lunches from a nearby deli and enjoy the dinners for what they are. Lovely grounds and facilities. The beach it sits on is amazing. Also the courts are great. Bring your tennis whites and embrace it!

I love San Diego!! If you want a beautiful hotel and spectacular beaches then Hotel del is for you. Located on an island south of downtown San Diego it is a great place to stay. Although a little pricey it is worth the money. Centrally located to downtown, the seaside villages and the great beaches I think you will be happy you stayed there. It is also a famous hotel for celebs now and long ago. Have a great trip. Ask the locals for great places to eat. There is so much to choose from.

The hotel grounds and views are amazing.  Staff was very attentive, accommodating, and helpful.  The concierge was also very helpful. The food and service was very good. Sure it's expensive, but it is a luxury hotel.
