I would highly recommend this hotel. It's location is perfect because it's right in the gaslamp, adjacent to Petco Park and the Convention Center. The staff has been great both times that I've stayed there and the price was resonable for such an elegant hotel. The rooms feature a flat screen tv, free wifi, and beautiful decor. There's a complimentary wine hour in the lobby daily. The hotel restaurant is excellent, although a bit pricey. The hotel bar, by the gorgeous pool, is a hotspot in San Diego. It' has a nice firepit with views of the city. You'll find tons of locals as well as visitors… read full review »

We stayed the weekend. Loved the lobby, free wine tasting was fun and educational. Everything was very clean, and the rooms done in a nice updated style. Did not like the level of noise you could hear inside the room. Our neighbors sounded like they were in the room with us. Their 1am arrival with baby kept my husband up the rest of the night. The beds were not as comfortable as I would have hoped, a bit mushy. Really liked to bathroom decor, robes in animal prints. The restaurant downstairs should be skipped. We did breakfast and not happy with food quality or taste. Very pet… read full review »

We got the room with the hottub and it made the stay much nicer. The rooms were very large which makes things very comfortable. The hotel isn't cheap, but at least you feel like they're giving you your money's worth. Pretty much anything you need can be gotten very quickly. Free wireless is nice. Valet isn't cheap ($26/night). Wife loved it, so I might splurge again!Shopping: Short Walk, Shopping and Dining experiences abound within a few blocks. Waterfront is close, so is Petco park. —… read full review »

The Hotel Solamar was very beautiful decor wise and had a helpful, considerate staff. The room was small, too small to be comfortable. The bathroom was also small and the sink was so shallow that it made it difficult to use without wetting everything around it. We were short on towels. There were only 2 glasses to use. (We had 3 persons in the room) The overall feeling was very chic and intimate, but just too cramped in the room.Dining: Short Walk, —… read full review »
