Straightens, but burns

I receive compliments every time I straighten my hair with this baby.  One time I tried to do it too quickly and ended up burning off a large lock, but I have recovered.  The key is to have almost all dry, or only very slightly damp hair to begin with, so you don't end up wasting a lot of time steaming (which isn't good for the hair anyway) the hair, but straightening it.  Styling conditioners which add oily moisture also help to prevent it from being so drying to the hair.
