There is very little truth in advertising, and this is ever so glaring in food advertising. For example, when was the last time you got a sandwich from Subway that actually looked anything like the ones on the television and print advertisements?  Me; never!  And so it is too with pictures on the box of any frozen food product.  The picture promises so much, but the actual food product more-often-than-not fails to deliver.

Such is the case with the new (Nestle) Hot Pockets Panini Steak & Cheddar product, which is supposed to be a tasty amalgam of "Seasoned cooked beef steak, cheese & roasted onions with sauce in an onion Focaccia bread."  Funny how the product failed to taste anything like the forgoing; in fact there was hardly any taste at all.

Like most, if not all Hot Pocket products the new Panini Steak & Cheddar sandwich can be found in the frozen food aisle.  The product boasts that it is an "Excellent Source of Calcium and serves up a scant 0 grams of Trans Fat per serving.

The instructions indicate that one should microwave the Panini Steak & Cheddar on high for 3:15.  When it comes out, the bread is soggy, and innards hot, slimy, and ill-tasting.  But then I really didn't expect a taste explosion from a frozen food, and truth be told the only reason I brought the product was because I had a coupon that made it practically free.

Needless to say, I do not recommend the Hot Pockets Panini Steak & Cheddar.  And I am glad I limited myself to just one variety!

TheBard...hi there and how are you? This is a great review. Written with honesty! A product tested and then telling it the way it really is. This is what review writing is all about. Sometimes we have to say negatives things about our tested products too. Thanks for sharing this review. Very informative writing. Have a great week. ~Angel~

I have to tell you that for a number of reasons I wouldn't touch these. I'm glad you don't like them!

To me it was like eating cardboard with garlic cream sauce thrown in. Mine actually cooked well, but the taste was AWFUL. Only a half is a serving size based on fat and calories and even after a half I was still hungry, but not for more of that.

Who eats two day old salad? I am with you, YUCK!

My friend and I saw the commercial and we were wondering how good they would be. I can't stand a "soggy" sandwich and I told her that was usually the end result if you microwaved any bread product. Not sure if I will try the product but she may. She is the same person who can eat a microwaved Pot Pie (yuck) and put dressing on a salad, refridgerate it and eat from it for 2 more days (nasty)!!
