Hot Fuzz Review Summary

Hot Fuzz is a hilarious take on Hollywood action movie blockbusters. Viewpoints moviegoers are in agreement that this British comedy starts out a little slow, but picks up at the end with an action-packed ending. While some reviewers feel Hot Fuzz is definitely not a family movie with a few “gruesome, over-the-top death scenes,” others love this British farce by the same people that brought us Shaun of the Dead. At a time where even Clay Aiken is making headlines starring in a British comedy such as Spamalot, the parody of Hot Fuzz is “a great combination of humor, action and suspense.”

Are you a movie lover who's bored with the usual plots?
Hot Fuzz is the weirdest, wildest ride in years, directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead). If you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead (and I hadn't, just went in stone cold to see this film), no matter. You will be laughing so hard, all the film's...

My husband and I went to go see this movie this past weekend. I didnt really know much about it, so I went in with low expectations. The minute the movie started, I thought, "oh, no... British humor... am I going to get it?" The quick answer is "yes".

Hot Fuzz definitely made me laugh. Stupid laughing, but...

In 2004, they brought you the Zombie horror spoof Shaun of the Dead, a huge hit in their native Britain, and a film that developed quite the cult following here in America.

Now, director Edgar Wright, along with friends and co-writers Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, take on the big budget Hollywood blockbuster in Hot Fuzz.  Much like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz was gigantic in England, and is generating good word of mouth here in the States as well.

Nicholas Angel (Pegg) is London's top cop.  His arrest rate is 400% greater than anyone else, so jealousy steers the London hierarchy into moving him to...

I have been waiting for this film. Ever since I first saw Shaun of the Dead. This movie is worth renting when it comes out. I was very disappointed at the US box office turnout for this film. Hopefully the DVD sales will make up for it. Also 120 minutes is not too long. Those who say so are getting used to these 90 minute films. I say if we pay to see it, it should last longer.

There are quite a few reviews already about this movie. Anyone who is not familiar with Shaun of The Dead starring Simon Pegg , should stop right here. Literally. Frost's performance in that movie endears you to him, and then you can appreciate all the more the dilemna he has to face in this brutal comedy. Hot Fuzz has Simon as supercop who is the best at what he does and all the other cops dislike him. Similar the Joseph and his brothers in the Bible, except Simon's character doesn't have the many colored coat.
There is sickness in this "perfect" little town, the action is most certainly...

I like films that stray from the Hollywood norm.  Don't feed me the same old plot with different character names, please... I'm more intelligent than that (at least, I *hope* I am).  I long for films that will come at me from left field, shake me around a bit, then leave me with a storyline that I can mull over for a few days after viewing.  Hot Fuzz does all of these things.
I was a huge fan of Shaun of the Dead.  When I heard the rumors of another Wright, Pegg, Frost film being created, I was cautiously optimistic.  Could they knock my socks off again without using the same jokes from...

I have to say first off that I was NOT even the slightest bit interested in Shaun of the Dead, but immediately upon seeing just the preview for this film I KNEW it was going to be awesome!!  This movie is a broad collection of movie spoofs that you may not recognize right off the bat but one day, down the road you will see something (like the cranberry juice in the bar, name the film that came from....) and you will chuckle to yourself.  I have to say that I was a bit surprised at the amount of gore that was shown in this movie but at the same time it was all the more entertaining.  I think... read full review »

If you're into British comedy, this is the movie for you. I wasn't a big fan of Shawn of the Dead, because it was just death death death without a lot of plot. But this one was awesome. I loved the quirky little things, like the twin brothers who are at the reception desk at the police station, the mumbly old guys, everything. I will agree with some people that it does start out a little slow, but it's all building up to the incredible ending. The action at the end is over the top rediculously funny. Like in the supermarket battle between the cops and the deli boys, the spaghetti sauce gets hit...

Hot Fuzz came from the same guys that made Shawn of the Dead and it was by far, a better movie.  Although it was a bit hard to get into at first, it was worth waiting and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.  It contained a great combination of humor, action and suspense.  You do have to be familiar with British humor to understand some of the jokes though.  The cast was great also.  They played off each other well, unlike in "Shawn of the Dead", where everyone save the two main characters related to each other as if they had just met that day.  Anyway, the movie Hot Fuzz reiterated...

This movie starts out kind of slow and drags for the first maybe 20 minutes or so. When the action picks up it is non-stop.  It has some very funny moments but is very bloody and gory at times. I love these 2 actors so I was willing to forgive some of the missteps in the film. Lots of good actors in the film and the story has a nice twist to it that is very funny and ironic. Anyway enjoyable as a whole, not as good as Sean of the Dead. Happy ending.

The honest cop, a deadly showdown, a mysterious conspiracy, with gun blazing, car chases, and a missing swan? Those 're thing ye can only see on Hot Fuzz.

Plot: When Sargent Nicholes Angel(Simon Pegg), is best of what he do, on the London police force. They transfer him, to the country, of the town of Sanford. I generally try to adopt a more professional tone when writing reviews, but the mere mention of Hot Fuzz guarantees my instant transformation into a blithering fangirl.

Simon Pegg! He plays a no-nonsense cop! He's so good at what he does that his bosses transfer him to a quiet little English town because he keeps making them look bad with his relentless butt-kickery!

Nick Frost! He plays the bumbling small-town cop that Pegg's partnered with! He got his job through nepotism and he's a well-meaning doofus that gets into all kinds of hilarious scrapes!

The town has been voted "safest town in England"...

The dynamic duo is back!  No, I don't mean Batman & Robin.....The zombie slayers of "Shawn of the Dead" are back but this time as police officers.  From the opening minutes of the film you get an idea that this is going to be over-the-top. The characters are well developed even though there's comedy around every corner.  From the facial expressions to the quick one liners you'll be laughing throughout the film.  I had to watch it twice so I could see the parts I laughed so hard at, I couldn't hear what they were saying.  There are a couple slow parts in the movie, but it more than makes up... read full review »

Hot Fuzz, from the makers of Shaun of the Dead, is in my opinion the surprise movie of the year for 2007. I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, as well as what I'd seen of Spaced, the British comedy from the same duo, so I decided I'd give Hot Fuzz a chance. It exceeded my expectations by far, ranking as one of my favorite comedies ever. The climactic scene especially, takes you by surprise and leaves you rolling on the floor. Another thing I like about it is that repeated viewings reveal new humorous things, because it is so fast-paced. Whether you're a fan of "Britsh comedy" or not, this film is worth... read full review »

Like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz is a spot-on genre parody that will appeal most to people who enjoy the kinds of movies being spoofed. Every aspect of the film is an over-the-top version of the action genre, which itself is already marked by extremes. This means things can get outrageous and even silly, particularly in the fast-paced, kinetic closing sequence, but it also means that you'll be laughing hard down the stretch. Some people complain that the middle section is a little flat, and the observational humor in that act is more restrained than the rest of the film, but it's still packed with...
