I was a huge fan of Shaun of the Dead. When I heard the rumors of another Wright, Pegg, Frost film being created, I was cautiously optimistic. Could they knock my socks off again without using the same jokes from Shaun?
The answer was yes, a thousand time yes!
Hot Fuzz is hilarious in its OWN right. Wright and Pegg did not feel the need to rest on their laurels and just rehash jokes and gags from SOTD. Rather, they slap their audience around with a whole NEW set of funnies that just add to their already large fan base.
HF is not nearly as greusome as SOTD, understandably, but does deliver a few gross moments that made me both cringe and laugh out loud. I highly suggest that anyone who enjoyed SOTD make a serious effort to watch HF in the near future. Even if you haven't enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, yet, go ahead and watch HF anwyay. It's an excellent film.
