Frances Williams is a unique hosta. When I'm choosing plants I look for size, shape, texture, color, and plant needs. There are usually several different plants that might fit the bill in a given situation, but there aren't many things out there that look quite like this. The leaves have dark green centers with an edge that ranges fron bright yellowy-green to yellow to gold, depending on sun and time of year. When it's in the shade the center is bluer and the margins are greener, and I think it looks incredible. Maybe it's just me, but it's my favorite hosta and one of my favorite foliage plants, period.

One warning- do not let this one get a lot of sun. It makes the yellow garrishly bright and will cause brown spots. I've got nothing against bright yellow, but this plants strengths lie elsewhere. You want yellow, get something yellow. (See my review of Hosta 'Sum and Substance' for instance.

Hardiness Zones 3-9

Sun Tolerance- Shade to part sun

Keep the reviews of plants coming! As an urban dweller with out much of a garden I'm sorta living vicariously through your gardening reviews!
