Hose Hideaway Hose Reel with Hose Guide

Hose Hideaway is great addition to my yard

My house has a slightly awkward positioning for the hose bibs, so we had to find something that would work on a slant. I chose this, because I wanted a hose box that completely hid the hose, but wasn't bigger than my AC unit! When I first got this, I thought it would be too light, and that it wouldn't hold up very well. Once I got the hose box home, and added the hose to it, it really stabilized with the weight. The main concerns I have with the hose box is the connector hose that goes from the box to the hose bib is not very flexible (especially when it gets colder at night). I feel that it might wear out quicker than anything else. However, if that happens, I will buy a longer hose (the connector hose is actually a lot shorter than I hoped it would be) so that I can move the hose box to the back of the house. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want the hose in sight, and doesn't feel like coiling it up by hand.

This hose box is a hose itself!

I got all excited when we bought our house and saw that the previous owner had left us the hose box.  I figured it was because she already had another house, but now that I think about it, I think she knew how horrible the hose reel was!  The hose reel is inside this hose box.  It conceals it and is supposed to keep the hose from getting all tangled and/or having to lay all over the ground.  Unfortunately, the reel doesn't actually pick up the hose most of the time.  If the hose is wet, which naturally happens, it slips and slides and won't wind up.  Also, it gets huge kinks in the hose and makes it difficult to use the hose to spray any water.  Most of the time I have to unwind a LOT more hose than I'd planned just so I can make sure the water actually pours out through the hose properly.  It's a time waster, a space waster (as it's pretty gigantic), and if I'd had to buy it, I'd also call it a money waster.

Good for the job it does.

I have two hose boxes and I think they work pretty well. They are big enough for two hoses joined together which is convenient if you have to stretch your hose across a big yard. They are not too hard to wind back up though sometimes it can be hard to get it started or to get it to wind evenly. Sometimes it seems like it is hard to get the hose connected very well so that it doesn't leak. I have just accepted that it waters the ground where it sits. Also it seems to fall over very easily. Somerimes the hose will hang up inside and not come out when I am pulling for more hose and pull it over. It can be very heavy with hoses inside of it so you have to put it where you want it and not move it too often. I dont think the hose boxes are very pretty though so it makes me not want to have it sitting in the middle of my front yard. It does an okay job though for what it's for. Not sure how it compares in price to some of the more attractive and portable hose reels.
