Hormel Turkey Pepperoni is even better tasting than traditional pepperoni, and it's diet. A lifetime of on and off long term low fat dieting has shown me that most low fat alternatives are pretty lackluster in comparison to their high fat delicious counterparts. Usually, the ones that pass for "good" are only "passing for good because I can't stand another salad or cup of yogurt" or are only "good because they kind of sort of vaguely remind me of the real thing enough to keep the craving at bay." But Turkey Pepperoni is an absolute stunner. I eat it even when I'm not trying to eat healthy because it's that delicious.
It only has 4 grams of fat per 17 piece serving, 70 percent less than regular pepperoni. It's perfect for topping a pizza. I make mine with fat free cheese on french bread and add veggies, so the whole pizza is like 6 grams of fat, and feels like a real meal. I also like to use the pepperoni as a topping for spaghetti instead of meat balls or ground meat, giving me a huge portion of spaghetti for like 7 grams of fat. I even eat it as a snack by itself occasionally or with melba toast.
The flavor is full and rich and spicy. I think maybe the turkey soaks up more of the seasonings than the traditional meat because more seasoning flavor comes through. The texture is a tiny bit nicer, too. No more drippy, oily, fatty pepperoni. Just lean delicious pepperoni. I recommend it to anyone, whether you're trying to lose weight or eat healthy or not.
