This insurance company is NOT reliable. They have been saying that they will come down and look at my car for about three weeks now because it has been in a hit and run and every week they will delay it and say they will do it next week or the week after that. I have already paid the deductible to have my car fix and insurance should cover the rest but it seems impossible to get them to do anything. We pay every bill payment on time and this is the kind of service we get... Ridiculous.

We have kept Horace Mann Insurance for almost 30 years of excellent service. There was a time that we shopped around hoping for a more reasonable price, however the cost of insurance was up all across the board and so we stuck with them. We have only had a few claims throughout the decades but they were prompt and very efficient at giving us the coverage and help that we needed and expect from a great insurance company. We do not drive as often as we use to and we have taken our insurance down to the basics of what we need and this has saved us money and peace of mind that we do not have to switch insurance companies. We really were very happy when we were able to keep our premium payment down and still have the peace of mind that we have with Horace Mann Insurance. Our last claim was in 2004 and yet all was done very effective and promptly got us back on the road. I have to give this insurance company the highest rating available across the board. And I highly recommend them as we have needed this insurance several times throughout the three decades that we have been insured by Horace Mann insurance Co. We have had him for the last 10 years and he is always spot on. Has came to my house to do reviews and even saves me more money from time to time.

They immediately sent a restoration and casualty company in to tear my house apart after a flood occurred from shower leaking and then exploding a cartridge into the wall of my house. They came quick and cut up the hardwood floors, cut out my daughter's carpet and a huge chunk of the wall that was wet. Everything stopped when they realized the year of the house and that they needed to check for asbestos. I was assured they were only even there working because my claim was covered. The day the asbestos came back positive the adjuster FINALLY called after 5 days and said he couldn't confirm that I was covered. This is AFTER they cut a hole in my baby girl's wall creating an open hole releasing asbestos into our home that they are going to try to get out of now. THEY ARE SLIME BALLS!! They will see us in court if they don't handle their mess. Available Plans never ever received a full copy of the plans that they were reciting to me today. I should have had copies of all the codes, etc. Not just plan max and mins.

I had a break in at my home. H.M. does everything in it's power to pay as little as possible. Over all I lost about 6K... Horace Mann's payout, less then 3K. And then they promptly dropped my coverage after nearly 10 years. Available Plans What does it matter, you can't actually "use" any of the plans anyway?

I'm very happy with Horace mann, this is my 7th year with my home and cars with them and very pleased. Excellent customer service and fast road service. forgot keys on cars twice, died battery and truck dropped oil filter once and had to be towed to my home, they got me covered in as soon as 30 min every time! there was no extra charge for any of those.. I really recommend it.

Great company that understands teachers. In my area the rates have been better than any other company and over the 10 years i've been a client, their rates have stayed low. I've had both a home owner claim and an auto claim and the company was fair and speedy in both instances.

my wife and i had been customers of horace mann for approximately five years before finally leaving them last spring.  at first they were great, when we were both young teachers right out of college and other insurance companies were giving us really high quotes.  however, after we got married and got older, the prices we were paying never dropped.  i finally started to call and found that we would be able to save about forty percent, or 70 dollars per month by changing to another company.  i got in touch with our agent at horace mann to tell him that we were shopping around and we would give him a chance to maintain our business by getting us a competitive rate.  he told us he would look into it, but never got back to us.  i even called him three times to see if he could find a better rate and he never returned my call.  finally i just changed to travelers for both home and auto and we are saving about forty percent and have experienced wonderful customer service thus far.
