Hoover Vacuum - Elite - Upright Rewind Bagless Vacuum —

I wasn't expecting much from the Hoover Elite Rewind vacuum.  I wanted a more expensive model like a Dyson, but my husband wanted to spend a little less and suggested this model.  I didn't think I would like it very much, but consented.  I was genuinely surprised.  My previous vacuum was similar to this but a Kenmore and it was hard to deal with because of the dust cup being difficult to remove and replace, etc.   Getting to the dirt stuck inside the dust cup was absurd since you couldn't get to some places inside there.  So I worried that this might be similar

What a surprise!  This Hoover Rewind is easy to maintain.  The cup is easy to pop out of place.  With a push of a button you can lift it right out.  Then it has a lever on the side to empty the contents so you never have to touch the dirt unless on rare occasions something lodges up in the top chamber.  Nine times out of ten all of the pet hair and big stuff falls in the bottom portion of container so it's easy to dump.  On that rare occasion you might have to twist off the top and empty it and then replace.  The filter is also in the top chamber and only has to be cleaned out with the brush tool once in a while.

Some features I love about this vacuum:

The cord rewind feature is nice.  I hated having to wrap cords up and this does away with that.  To avoid injury when it's rolling it up I always grab the end of the cord and then press the rewind button so it won't hit me.

The suction indicator is another winning feature.  When suction is not optimal a little spot on the front turns yellow telling you it's time to empty the cup or clean the filter or both.  Usually just emptying the cup is enough and I can proceed vacuuming.

The hand tool that came with it is useful also for cleaning upholstery since it has a little belt agitator that turns.  It grooms my cat's cat condo beautifully and removes all the hair.  There are also other crevice tools and a hand brush that doubles as the filter cleaner.

The controls are easy with the power button being down by your feet so you can kick it on and off.  There is also a carpet height adjuster which makes it perfect for my house since we have very low area rugs and bare floors and then we have plush carpeting in our bedrooms.  It takes care of all of these easily.

It's got some good suction.  It picks up every bit of kitty litter from my carpet and every piece of hair from my four cats as well as lint and our hair.  It does good suction for bare floors too as long as the selector is set low.

One caveat:  I notice when I use it throughout the whole house the vacuum starts to get really hot, and if the cord is rolled up in the vacuum partially it will make the cord really hot too when you pull it out further.  Our house is less than 1000 square feet so I wish it ran cooler, but as long as it doesn't make it stop working I won't complain.

So for the price we paid which was less than $100, I'd say this was a steal and I'm glad we found it.
