Most HelpfulI have 4 kids and have gone through I couldn't tell you how many vacuums. We live in the country so trying to keep dust and dirt out of the house is a never ending battle. This vacuum cleaner has been the best one I have ever used.
All the other bagless vacuums come with filters that need replaced,...

Most HelpfulI purchased the Hoover Mach 5 six months ago for a household of 7 with a dog. My complaints are minor but enough to make me wish I had purchased something else. I spent a little more than my last vacuum thinking I was buying convenience. I love the retractable cord, but it is located at the very bottom of the cleaner making it tough to hold the cord out of the way when vacuuming. There is a tiny clip on the handle to hold the cord, but the clip is so small the cord always comes loose, and I have to stop and pick it back up. Annoying! The molding around the base of the cleaner is blue...

The main problem -- dust and dirt build up in the bottom section where the roller is and drops crud onto the floor with each bump. So if you are using the hose and when putting the vacuum up, there are patches of crud that have to be cleaned. I took it apart twice and clean it out but it is not worth doing this as it just gets filled again very quickly. It is also losing suction now, which was one of its selling points -- great suction....

Another huge con, canister has to be emptied all the time! I have to empty a few times, each time I vacuum...and I vacuum daily, so it really should not have to be emptied this often. We do own 2 dogs, and 1 cat so it is mostly hair. Hair gets stuck on the filter, while running and doesn't pick up as well.
I definitely would not recommend anyone get this vacuum. Spend more $ and get a better...
read full review »I loved this vacuum when we first got it. It cleaned really well and was easy to clean. Now a year later I curse it everytime I use it. I'm trying to clean the whole house but every few minutes it shuts off because it is over heating. Then I have to wait an hour or so until it will start again. I clean out the chamber and shake out the filter but it never fails to shut off in a few more minutes. So I'm in a situation where company is coming and I can't vacuum the house because I can only clean 15 mins worth before waiting an hour for the thing to cool. Do not buy this vacuum. It...
read full review »This vacuum worked ok for the first few months. Then the auto cord rewind got jammed and my husband had to take it apart. After successfully retrieving the cord I decided not to use that function again and just wind the cord on the handle. A few months later it starting overheating. I can no longer vacuum an entire room (even a small room) without the back becoming hot to the touch and it shuts off. I have to wait several hours for it to cool off. I am now researching other vacuums before I purchase. This was the most frustrating purchase that I have made in a while.
This machine looks more interesting that some others. I really like the fact that you don't have to change a bag all the time. I believe it to be very powerful in sucking up the dirt. All tho, I feel that the price is much too high, there are many other types of vacume's on the market that work just as well a this one, they just don't carry the Hover mane on them.
