Hook —

When I first saw Hook, I was younger and I thought it was the most fantastic movie. Now I'm an adult, and I still love this movie to death.  So you've seen Peter Pan, what is this movie about?? Like my title says, it's what happens AFTER Peter Pan ends.

Basic Plot
The basic plot is revealed late in the movie, so I won't give it away. Instead I'll just explain a little of the beginning. Peter Banning is a hard working guy. Work is his life, and his kids and wife are on the back burner. Peter and Moira Banning's (Robin Williams and Caroline Goodall) kids are kidnapped right near the beginning, and a message is left from the infamous Captain James S. Hook (Dustin Hoffman). Now Peter must find his kids with the help of Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts) and a whole new set of lost boys. But first, he must remember his past, before he can correct his future.

Ok, so maybe that gave it away a little for some of you, but that really is only the start of this movie!

Actors
The cast list is great! Robin Williams is awesome as usual. We are used to seeing him as a silly character, but in this movie he plays the serious Peter Banning. Can he break out of his shell to let his true self come out???

Julia plays a great Tinkerbell! She's much more entertaining than a regular quiet little fairy like in the original Peter Pan movies. She has a voice and she is not willing to sit and watch Peter Banning be pushed around. She is an asset to the film.

Dustin Hoffman is the perfect Hook! He is scary enough to give your kids a thrill without giving them nightmares. Your kids will love to watch the bad stuff happen to him because he really makes you laugh as he just takes it!

The kids in the movie (Peter's Children and the Lost Boys) are all great, however I really don't know who any of them were.

The Music
This isn't a musical, but there is great fantasy music in the background throughout the whole movie. It really brings you into the world of make believe... which is the only point of this movie really. As an adult, Peter Banning no longer believes in this type of world so as an adult watching this it really makes me think about what is possible in life.

Scenery
This has a leg up from the original Peter Pan. Neverland has some much more creative neighborhoods. It's almost like a little town and is very detailed.  The house that they really live at (outside of neverland) is also really nice, and it fits with what I know about the original Peter Pan stories.

Moral
Of course there's always a moral. It's a good story, and there's a good lesson at the end. There's actually a couple of good lessons, but you can learn those on your own. The lessons aren't just for kids, but for adults as well. After all, there's nothing wrong with having a little fun :)

The End
This movie shows that even Adults can act immature sometimes. It is fun for Kids and Adults. Unlike the original Peter Pan's, this is more geared towards older kids because the themes are more mature. There's drama, comedy and even a little love! So watch it with your teens! This is one that is worth owning because you will never get tired of it.  Enjoy!!
