Homeschooling —
Before anyone puts down homeschooling, they should really look at the family and take a good hard look at public schools today. Both of our daughters have learning disabilities. They were in the public school for many years. The teachers were of little or no help to us or our daughters. We have now been homeschooling for 5 years. I am able to custom their education to each girl. Get them material that really interest them personally. If something does not work well for them, we can change curriculum so they can learn and succeed. They can go at their own pace. They have the love of learning back. There are many advantages to homeschooling that the public school cannot adapt to. Homeschooling may not be for everyone, just as the public schools are not for everyone, but for this family, it is working and the girls are learning more than they ever would have in the public school system. For example, my girls hated math. We finally found one we really liked. Math U See. Now they will do all, yes all, of their math on Monday. They understand it now and its fun. They always hid their math homework in public school.
thanks for mentioning a specific math program that worked for you. I'm still trying to look for a program for us, and someone else mentioned math u see, so I'll be checking it out!
