I learned about Homescan on Viewpoint.com and while reading the reviews I thought I would give it a try and signed up.  I am very pleased.

Homescan is a Nielsen's consumer panel program that helps make your voice heard in the market world.  All you do is scan the products you normally purchase with the nifty scanner they send you (see pictures), put in the store you shopped at and purchase price for each product and when you are complete you are also entering if you used a savings card or what knots (the scanner asks the questions), after that just transmit once a week and watch the points build up to use for the selection of great gifts they offer.  I was surprised at what I can get.  Computer items, kitchen items, stuff for the kids, home, camping etc...

Some of the point amounts needed for some of the products I thought at first would take me forever to save up for, but I forgot about the surveys you can take and also receive points and just for joining up you receive 1000 points you get more points on your anniversary date too.

Note: Some areas of the US do have a waiting list, but for me I waited for about three weeks and if you have questions, they send you all the info in the welcome packet filled with info and beyond and they are more then happy to take you questions via computer or phone (They were very helpful and friendly).  The scanner comes in a separate box (save the box and return address shipping label if you wish to cancel).

Tip: When scanning for the first time, swipe the scanner like you would lite a wooden match (oh that tip helped me a lot when I read it, I was a scanning demon).

Scan your products, transmit once a week (very easy) and rack up the points for cool gifts, what more could you ask for, plus your helping the marketers. (kids like to help scan too).

It really does...have a few more points to get, but I think I will have it by the time the next book comes out which is fine. I like it, my cats aren't to happy with me when I transmit though...they don't like that sound lol

I have been with Homescan for almost 4 years now. I have always been very pleased with the program. I have been able to accumulate points very quickly and was astonished at how quickly I recieved the gift I had chosen.

Thanks rulistenin...I missed last week. it was nuts and my hubby went shopping...he got a time out from not scanning lol. I hope to see you a winner as well!!!

Me too! I also have been scanning away with Homescan for a while now. I've found it interesting how consistent I am with the number of shopping trips I make each week; averaging 7 trips per week. Although, it blows me away at how much I actually spend on necessities each week... yikes!

BTW: your scanner also looks VERY different than mine, hmmm.

***may you one day be a selected winner on Homescan... I'll look for your name in the newsletter, lol ;)

I hadn't even thought about reviewing this, your scanner is different than mine. I love this program.

It's amazing and now I have put myself to a test on shopping...shhh don't tell my hubby lol. I plan to shock him hehehehehehe....shopping for things and seeing how much I can save.

I would have had killer scans from the 4th, but I was afraid the scanner would set off all his fireworks lol

I think I'd be afraid of seeing what I spend! It's bad...I spend impulsively. Maybe that thing WOULD wake me up!

LOL that is what I used to think. I scan as I put my stuff away...makes me look at the prices even closer...Scary and makes you think and rethink how and what we shop for so that has been a plus. Once you get used to it, it's easy to remember.

PattyTherre wrote on Jul 13, 2008 at 1:49PM

I heard of this but it seems so intrusive. Plus I would never remember to scan stuff. I do like prizes though!

OMG, never heard of this one. It sounds really neat.

I just did the transmit for the week this morning and did my shopping for next week and all scanned. It gets easier as you do more. I am having fun with Homescan...just have to keep the gift catalog away from the hubby. MINE :)
