Excuse me, ma'am, your midsection is humming and vibrating...
3 star rating

a creature of comfort
Pros

inexpensive, squishy, sort of massages, battery operated for travel, can be used as a neck roll, fairly comfortable

Cons
vibration is annoying, hums loudly, batteries die fast, battery compartment hurts the back, doesn't really massage

My lower back is always aching. Heck, at my age everything is always aching! I bought the Homedics SQUSH Therapy Massage Back Pillow Blue SQM B1 after my husband bought me the Homedics neck pillow that is similar in material and action (see review).

I like to use lumbar pillows and cushions behind my lower back when I sit to support my sloppy posture and help keep my back straight. I figured one that massaged too would be a bonus.

This pillow is OK but it doesn't really massage as much as just make a loud racket and vibrate.

The Pillow

This pillow is long and thin and covered with soft material. It has a squishy feel to it thanks to the beans or whatever they are that fill the inside. The pillow has a little twist in the middle and is cute. It fits nicely behind my back and feels decent.

It takes 2 AA batteries and has a little dial to go from a slight vibration to a heavy one.

For the most part, the pillow is soft and squishy but the battery compartment inside is hard and, when my back comes into contact with it, it's uncomfortable.

My Use

I use this pillow behind my lower back when sitting in an office chair and sometimes in the car. It is soft and squishy but does support my back some.

The massager, however, leaves a lot to be desired. You flip the switch then you can turn the dial up or down for intensity. But all it seems to do is hum and vibrate. It's actually a little uncomfortable.

The humming is loud. Much louder than the neck pillow made by HoMedics. As with the neck pillow, this has no heat which I wish I had. It is only battery run so it is good for travel, not so good for every day at home use. Batteries die fast.

This is an OK lumbar pillow but I have better. Although the others I have do not massage or vibrate they give me much more support and my back feels better when using them.

Conclusion

This is inexpensive at under $20.00 and is a nice little back cushion for travel. However I wouldn't use it on public transportation. I mean, what will people think if your lower half suddenly started humming and you were vibrating? That is best left at home or with family members. Heh.

The pillow is squishy and I sometimes use it as a neck roll and it works better than as a back support.

I give this 3 stars. It's ehh. I use it but I have had much better back supports. The massage is really quite useless and noisy. I don't recommend that you get this product. There are better and your back deserves better.
