We have really been on the run lately. In between work, and negotiating pricing on "the old house", cleaning up here and getting ready to remodel and put this house on the market, I've found myself drained when it comes time to prepare a meal on weekday nights. One of the better discoveries in my grocer's freezer section was Homestyle Menu Country Style Ribs in a Hickory BBQ Sauce.

All About 'Em

I have to say that the picture is what captured my attention while shopping. The front ofthe package has ribs grilling on a BQ pic. They look delicious and if you are hungry when you are doing your shopping like I was--it was a sure sign of a sale seeing an easy to prepare entree that looked so good.

The package contains 1.75 lb.s of boneless pork shoulder country style ribs in a thick and rich hickory BBQ sauce. The package contains about 6 servings (5 oz. per serving).

To prepage the ribs, you just place the defrosted ribs on a baking sheet. Instructions say to cover with aluminum foil but I didn't do this and they came out just fine. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and pop them in when the oven is ready. Cook for 30-35 minutes and your entree is ready to serve. You can also prepare it in the microwave or on top of a grill.

Nutrition

Each serving contains 270 calories.  Other breakdowns are as follows:

Total Carbohydrate: 20g
Protein: 18g

Taste

I was really surprised at how good Homestyle Menu Country Style Ribs in a Hickory BBQ Sauce really was. The meat contained very little fat (as compared to most ribs) and were boneless. The BBQ was very tasty and I didn't find anything wrong with the way this entree was seasoned. Of course, ribs hot off the BBQ grill would be better but if you are cramped for time, this is a great alternative and fast too!

Homestyle Menu prides itself in providing fresh but frozen products that are of restaurant quality. One of the things I found irronic was that this product is distributed by Destination Products International in Canada, but is a product of the USA.

Either way, I found this entree to be very good and priced at around $6.99 was a great way to prepare an evening meal in the middle of the week.

Does this mean I don't have to slave over bbq ribs again? or that you will be serving them at your halloween sleep over haunted house? :-)

Speaking of grills and grilling you don't even want to know what my hubby did last weekend.

Yum! Having this on hand would give my hubby a break from the backyard grill. :)
