Im not sure if this is the right place to be, but am wondering if anyone has a Whirlpool 9600 FL steam washer?  Just trying to find out if anyone has had any problems or concerns...

Thanks

Hi Jolie,  It seems Im posting this in the wrong location, since you're the only one who has responded!  Is there a better place to post this?

Thanks!

Mine is a GE. I looked at the washing machine reviews for Whilrpool. Looks like most folks like them. But the steamer one has not been reviewed yet.

One thing you might want to do is go to Lowe's or Home Depot etc. and just ask how folks have liked the WP steam. Don't indicate you're about to buy. Just be casual. Lots of times the sales guys will say which ones get turned back in for probs and so on. I usually take a little notebook and take notes and indicate that I'm just looking. I check more than one place - for advice and also prices etc.

Okay...if anyone is interested in Front Loaders...the Whirlpool 9600 Steam is pretty awesome...no problems so far...

I dont think many people come to this site for washers/dryers...

You couldn't pay me to own a front loader... they are just problems waiting to happen. Wash loads take r-e-a-l-l-y long, the door can lock and not let you get your clothes, the washers have a tendency to retain moisture and smell of mildew, you have to run the machines empty on a regular basis to sterilize them and they are expensive. A big deal is made about how much water they save but what's 20 gallons of water when the difference in cost is $850 (for a front-loader) vs. $400 (for a top-loader). That buys a LOT of water, and top loaders never lock your clothes inside.

After reading about the extensive problems people have with front-loading washers, I'd never buy one.

Hi.

I just joined this site tonight somewhat as a last resort.  I am getting ready to do a remodel of my home, which includes purchasing a new washer and dryer.  Have never had to do this before and so I'm VERY nervous about getting something that is problematic from the get-go.  At some point, I know I  just have to choose one right? I've read horror stories on practically everything I'm considering purchasing.  It's frustrating.  I'm stuck in fear of making a bad decision.  AHGHGH!!!

Currently I'm looking at getting the LG WM2455HG.  Does anyone know anything about those?  My friend bought the Whirlpool Duets and loves them.  But I'm also reading a lot of scary things about front loading machines in general.  A relative told me that pretty soon that's all that will be out there to purchase.  Has anyone heard that as well?

Any help? Advice?  Thanks.

Vickie,

Im sure the LG's are fine; I have the Whirlpool Duet 9600's and lov them.  One can go crazy reading all the posts of bad washers...seems like every washer has someone that doesnt like it or has had problems.  Most people probably dont come back to the websites if there are no problems to report...

Seems like the front loaders are "in" right now, not sure if thats all you will be able to buy in the future, but I do think they get better and better as time goes on...so you might want to wait on your purchase until your remodel is near complete.  Just make sure your laundry room dimensions are large enough to accomodate most washers.

We do lov the extra large capacity of the FL's..we have 2 kids and a pool...so we're always doing pool towels and very large loads.  We were thinking on getting the Duet Sport, which is a smaller capacity, but we're very glad we went with the larger Duet.

Dont be afraid to purchase a FL, we have friends with LG, Whirlpool, and Bosch...all are very happy...

Good Luck!
