There always seems to be one home or garden tool that wrecks your day every time you break it out. You think you're going to throw it out and replace but never seem to get around to it.

What's the handy tool that is never too handy in your hands?

The cheese grater.  It's unstable, it hurts my hands to use it, and I always end up grating my fingers. I hate that thing.

The little plastic cutting board that I have that is way too small.  I use it almost everyday so you would think that I would have bought a bigger and better one by now.  I never think about it until I'm chopping up some veggies.

I also agree with Buggheart about the cheese grater.  I've been making a lot of zucchini bread this summer and it scares me each time I use it.  I end up wasting a big chunk of zucchini because I'm afraid of shredding my knuckles.

My Kitchen Aid hand mixer!  The clip that holds one of the beaters in broke right out of warranty and I refuse to give them more of my money. The mixer works- it is just annoying.  I have to gently put the beaters into the bowl and then put a finger on the broken one when lifting them out of the bowl so it doesn't splat all over the kitchen as it falls out.

My can opener....I can never get it to grab onto the can properly.  It's not only the current one I have, but I keep buying new ones thinking it may be better than what I have and it never is.

I have to agree with that one!   I have a drawer full.  I could mail mine to you.  ;-)

My microwave is bi-polar. One day, I will put something in for six minutes and it will be nearly boiling and steaming. The next, the same thing after six minutes will be just warm with cold spots. There is no telling whether the microwave is going to play nice and actually cook things or just go around and pretend. The funny thing is, we bought it because my father had the same one and it was super reliable and very powerful. A cup of tea took only 30 seconds in his.

In mine, it takes anywhere from a minute to five minutes depending on what mood the microwave is in. I hate it. I gotta get a new one.

And cheese graters were made by crazy people who like to make people suffer. I swear I will never use mine again and then I do and end up grating myself.

Sippy cups. The ones that say they are leak-proof and aren't.

My refrigerator drives me crazy.  Sometimes it suddenly gets too cold - imagine pulling out frozen lettuce when you want a salad :(   If you raise the temp. it will sometimes shut off altogether. I live in an apartment and they have the bottle-of-the-barrel GE applaince throughout.

I have to agree... but I have a suggestion as well... see if you can find the handheld one made by OXO.  I have bought these for my preschool classrooms and the teachers (mostly aging) all love them.  They cost much more but work great.

It's sitting in my drawer!  I'm not kidding when I say, I have a drawer full of them.

I would say my old toaster. It either did not toast the bread or it burnt the bread and then the fire alarm went off. I have a new toaster now.

I also agree with everyone about the can opener.

Well for me I would say everything!! I dislike both areas of my house. I think flower are so pretty but I just throw bulbs in the dirt and hope they come up. I'm about to actually bake fish. Yeah, can openers are a pain especially for tuna fish! I don't like my stove. We really need a new one. I could also use some knives that cut.

The only thing I really dislike is the round cutting board that we have that moves whenever I try to slice, cut, chop, etc. anything.

*off to the kitchen to throw it away*

Our manual can openers always break and they're not cheap ones! The one that cuts cans safely has always been very hard for me to use.

My garden hose, I really need to hurry up and find a replacement, I absolutely hate it!
It's to heavy, bulky, and rigid I'm always fighting with it when I have to turn a corner in my yard because it is not flexible.

I've broken pots and plants  trying to pull it to another area that needs to be watered.
It gets stuck under the gate because it's to thick.

I  Lose lots of  time and energy fighting with this hose, Yet.. it's not where it should be and that is.... In the Garbage!
