Has anyone traded your broom or mop for a Swiffer cleaning product?

I would love to hear your comments!

I tried swiffer when they first came out and really enjoyed the convenience. However, the expense of keeping up on the cleaning pads and just the lack of being as clean as I would like.

Also, with young children I didn't like how chemically everything smelt and felt. Now I'm a purely water and baking soda cleaner. We use minute traces of bleach, but that's only when the kids go to bed.

I love my gadgets, and Lord knows I've invested in Swiffer more times than I'm willing to admit!

Through it all though, I've come to love just my mop and my carpet sweeper (works well on the tile). It's less expensive and I know exactly what's in it. Just my take though.

Yes, I ditched my broom for Swiffer! It's quick, convenient and does a great job.

I use the swiffer mop for quick spills or doggy messes, but feel like I need something more powerful for the big jobs. Also, though I don't want to ever let go of the swiffer mop, I use everday living or walgreens brand mop cloths. They don't cost as much, and they clean as well if not better. I also have the swiffer sweeper vac, but have traded it in for a broom and dust pan.  Then I use it for the small crumbs left after sweeping.  I don't think it cleans up well for big messes either.

I threw away my Swiffer "broom" dust-collecting thing years ago because it just wasn't effective enough on the pet hair and dirt in this house.

The Wet Jet is okay, but I only use it in my bathroom and around the bird cages.  It leaves streaks on the wood floors and just isn't strong enough to pick up all of the dirt in the kitchen without using a whole bottle of cleaner and like 5 mop pads.  Don't even get me started on the 2 skimpy scrub pads that you get...

I am happy to spend more money on the iRobot Roombas and Scoobas because I get much better results day in and day out.

I used to use the Wet Jet also, and found it to take just as long as it woud take me to get on my knees and cleans the floors by hand.  I agree that it is nice for the quick spills, but the cost of the pads are a bit pricey to me to use for a spill=)  I just grab my mulipurpose cleaner, give it a squirt and wipe up the spill with a papertowel=)

I use my Swiffer Wet Jet in the bathroom and kitchen. I did notice last time in the kitchen it did not get all the dirt. I may use the Swiffer in the bathrooms only. I have not tried it on spills or pet messes yet.

I gave up cleaning for Lent a few years back and decided not to take it up again.

NOT...honestly, am I the only person on the planet who has never used a Swiffer? Does using a diaper wipe when the baby pees on the floor count?

I love the Swiffer products. I have most of them and use them often. It's easier on me because I have chronic pain in my abdomen and I can't be pulling and tugging on a regular broom or mop. I don't know what I would do without them.

I have laminate floors - AND a loveable, shedding Golden Retriever. I LOVE the swifter brook for his hair. A broom would never clean and catch it as well. I do have the extra long one though. LOTS of laminate flooring. :)   I have tried the swifter duster - and it's okay for a quick dusting, but not as thorough as a dustrag. I haven't tried any of the other swifter products - mostly because they're small - and would be twice the work as my mop and vacuum.   Hope this helps you decide. :)

We use the Swiffer wet jet, and I balk every time we go to the store to replace those expensive pads.  We tend to go through a whole bottle just to do the downstairs of our house!  It's not tough enough on grout lines or big messes, and I'm not sure it's worth the extra expense.  Vinegar and water seems like a great alternative!

I have the Swiffer Sweep & Vac and the battery is really weak and the dust cup fills up really fast, so it's only good for little touch-ups. When the Swiffer first came out, I just bought the regular one with the long handle. I like it for ceiling fans and cobwebs in corners. I'm short so I love it. You can buy big boxes of the pads at discount warehouse stores, so they are affordable that way. I think dust sticks to them really well.

To be honest I prefer the swiffer products over any of its competitors. While I have not thrown away my broom, there are just too many uses for a broom to do that, I have thrown away my mop! I put the wet swiffer pads on my Swiffer Sweep and Vac to mop my kitchen floor. They are perfect for laminate flooring and they work well on hardwood as well.

The dog destroyed ours before I ever got the chance to try it.

I love the Swiffer commercials, by the way haha.

It's one of the best products ever created. When they first came out with the duster cloths, a friend of mine remarked, "I've never seen anyone get so excited over a dust cloth!"

I love the ease and convenience- especially if you have pets and hardwood floors. Even after sweeping via the conventional method, the Swiffer picks up all kinds of stuff you miss with a broom- and even mop; something in the microfibers catch hair and dirt particles that get left behind. Don't forget the extendible duster which allows you to reach ceiling fans and cobwebs- without the extra trouble of having to vacuum or sweep afterward.   -DKW
