What do you do about spiders in the house? Do they make a spary for that?

I seem to be breeding them.

Just about any bug spray will work on spiders. If you get the jet spray that they sell for wasps and hornets, you can spray a spider from 15 feet away.

I used to really hate spiders too, but I let the little ones live now. I have black widows in my garage and have spotted them a couple times, but they've never actually bothered me. I use a fogger in the garage a couple times during the summer and it helps keep the bug life down some. (Sorry, Buggheart/Paula!) Still, spiders eat other bugs, so I keep telling myself that.

I always find them when it's raining. If they're up high Kevin gets them. If they're within my reach and I won't tip over with the walker I get them. Ugh!!!! If they're the size of Volkswagons, Kevin gets them too.

Bugsprays and foggers seem to work if they're really bad. I think I saw spiders listed on a can of Raid spray recently.

If you don't mind the smell, put 2-3 mothballs in a little bag and hang it in corners, cupboards, basement windows, wherever you have spiders and it will drive them away.

Leave them alone they eat other bugs.  But an FYI  if you have spiders they are there eating something. Take away the food source they will move on. I do realize you may not see what they are eating but trust me all bugs go where the food is.

I say call terminix or buy some bug bombs! I too hate them! I just found and caught 2 spiders that I have never seen before and after doing some research on them I found out that one of the spiders is very poisionous and can cause sever nerve damage. I feel like I cannot rest comfortably now because I fear that one of them are going to bite my children. I HATE them so much! They are just too creepy to ignore.

I sprayed to get rid of spiders about 1 month ago and it worked - until a few days ago when I saw a bunch more. I sprayed again - none seen since Sunday.

I can't figure out where they come from though. One was walking right down the middle of the family room in the basement like he owned the place. He was mean looking so I squished him!

Hi, we live in an ancient dutch farm house, I have completely refurbished it, but each year, when winter seems to be just around the corner, we get a rash of spiders. Yes there are many sprays, but most of them are just a waste of your time and money, they may kill the spider you spray it on, but spiders normally don't walk around with an orange sign on their back saying "Hi I'm a spider, spray me!" Meaning they are normally in hidden places, that is why they are so difficult to get rid of. BUT THERE IS A WAY! In just about any department store, Wal Mart or any other like it, there is a mist sprayer, they come in four can boxes. They are made by Raid, the can is orange, read the direction on the box and follow them, use them every four months and not only will you rid your entire house of spiders, but there will be no bugs, nil, ziltch, nada BUGS!

I go a bit farther than the can says, I set on off in my basment, or if you don't have a basement, crawl space, and two off in my attic. One in every room. Set them off, get out of the house for about four house, come back, open the doors and window, LEAVE THE SCREENS IN PLACE, in other words air out the house, there will be very little clean up, except for the dead bugs you will find. They are called Spray Bombs. AND THEY REALLY WORK! Just follow the directions. The mist gets into all the little cracks and crevices, all the dark places where the spider like to hide. Every four months, NO BUGS, I Promise. I HATE SPIDERS, don't mind snakes, aligators and bears nor lions, they are big enough to see, it is those brown recluse spider that when you are bitten you don't know it till a huge hole rots out of where ever you are bitten, and you can die from them. The Black Widow is a nasty spider but you won't die for a bit from them, you may get really sick, and there have been some deaths because of a serious alergic reaction, but normally a trip to the doctor will reasure you that a Black widow bite is not serious. NOT SO FOR THE RECLUSE! So please use the bomb.

To avoid pesticides, put hedge ball fruit aka monkey balls in the corners of closets, basements, etc. Spiders hate them and leave.

Have you ever been bored on the airplane and read the SkyMall? Hammacher-Schlemmer (sp?) actually sells this thing which is like a dustbuster with a really long end, so you can vacuum up spiders from far away! So, there you go - spider vacuum. As for me, the cat eats them.

I found my one cat is afraid of spiders (hanging head), but spiders taste with their feet/bottom of their legs...so why not give them something they can't stand. I learned this from our talk radio show up here Host: Kathy Keene and here is her recipe that works and I love it because it is safe for pets and kids to be around.

3/4 cup warm water
20-30 drops real lemon oil from a Health Food Store
2-3 drops Dawn dishwashing liquid

Put in spray bottle and shake well. Spray around foundations, around doors, etc. to keep spiders away.
This is a natural product - is not harmful to kids or pets...I have tried it and it works wonders.

She also has a peppermint anti spider recipe, but I can't find it...but will email her and get it for you.
