At the beginning of July we went to Home Depot to buy laminate flooring for our kitchen. Having installed laminate throughout our home, we were going to install the kitchen floor as well. We found a product we liked at Home Depot, paid them cash (our first mistake), and it was supposed to come in two weeks. The second week of August, after not having heard from HD, we inquired as to the status of our order. We were told "somebody" forgot to fax the order to the supplier, and we'd get the floor in another month. We were on a time restriction, having pulled up the old floor, and our son's wedding looming on the horizon, so after some "discussion" we were told we'd have it in a week. A week later, we were told the flooring "was on the truck" and would be available that coming Friday. That Friday we went there and was told it never got on the truck and we'd have it the next Tuesday. At that point we asked for our money back but were told that since it left the warehouse and wasn't actually in the store, we'd have to wait for it to arrive and then they'd "see" if we could get our money back. At this point I called Home Depot Corporate Headquarters, who were appalled at our shoddy experience and found out that it would be arriving in a week; however, he offered to refund our full purchase price right then and there if we understandably didn't want the floor. We have a only a week before it has to be installed, so we said we'd wait. However, this is the absolutely last time I'd ever deal with HD for anything other than buying light bulbs. We need a new countertop in the kitchen, so it's off to Lowe's to see what they can do....
