Home Depot - New Albany, IN —
Before deciding on Silestone Countertops I went back and forthe between Corian, the new laminate from Lowes(I have forgotten the name of it) and Silestone. I decided to go with silestone because one of Home Depot's selling points was that all of their products have hight customer ratings and they do not put anything in their store that does not have a high rating. I am trying to figure out now where they get their reviews from because their craftmanship and service was awful. First of all it took 2 months to get my countertops installed, the lady handling my order forgot to submit the measurements to Stone Made Products before a specific deadline to have an installation before Thanksgiving of last year. She had my measurements 5 days before the deadline, and sent them in the day after. When they finally came to install them (at 8 o'clock at night mind you, I settled for that because they forgot to come that morning), the installers intentionally cut off the lip to my counterop's corner peice because they did not think it was suppose to be there, but they were wrong. they filled it with appoxy and said that they could replace it. So the next day I call StoneMade to have it replaced, and it took another month and a half to get that.....It was too small....another piece ordered a month later...too big. Smart thinking installers hack away at with a razor blade to get it to fit because they didn't feel like using their saw to cut anymore when they didn't cut enough off with the first cut. So i have a weaking seam, more than 1/4" in some places which is the largest seam allowed by contract. Home Depot send out their professionals now (what they told me exactly...and I'm thinking, why didn't you send professionals to begin with?), he fixed it a little bit , but the seam is still uneaven and he chipped the piece next to it while trying to remove the other one. I requested that Home Depot either replace the two chipped pieces or give me $400 for damages and rude customer service. He said that this is the kind of work he expects and there is nothing wrong with it and counter offered with a $200 gift card for the rude customer service not damaged merchandise. I reported them to better bussiness bureu, and BBB sided with Home Depot even though my countertops were never looked at and it was all by word of mouth. So I accepted the $200 gift card because well, HD is a big corporation and apparently they can do no wrong even when they do do wrong. Buyer Beware, Home Depot is not there to help you, only to take your money and be done with it.
