The results are in—do your home appliances make the grade?

Shopping for home appliances can be really daunting. Everything seems questionable. "Is the sales guy actually helping me, or is he just trying to make a sale?" "Is this vacuum really worth spending that much money?" "I love the style of this washer - but how long will it last?"

And with each brand constantly bombarding us with commercials telling us they're the best, it's really hard to figure out which brand actually is the best.

That is, until now.

We sent out a survey asking Viewpoints members what they really think about their own washers, dryers, microwaves and upright vacuums. Over 8,000 people responded to tell us what they think about their home appliances.

Members answered several questions about each of these appliances, including what brand they owned, when they purchased the appliance and if they'd recommend it to a friend. Everyone was also asked to rate their appliance on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being "very satisfied" and 5 being "very dissatisfied."

Ratings were based on the following criteria:

• Overall performance
• Value
• Reliability/Durability
• Features/Technology
• Style

From dryers that are "quiet, stylish and energy efficient," to vacuums that were "basically garbage from day one," the Viewpoints community definitely didn't hold back. We've taken all of these opinions and survey results and compiled them into four info guides on washing machines, dryers, microwaves and vacuums.

85% of respondents said they are satisfied with their washer's overall performance.
