As an animal rescuer living with 11 cats/kittens at the moment, my priority is reducing and eliminating litter box odor in my home. Things came to a head here about a month ago and I was desperate to find some way, any way to control the stinky cat urine smell. During a trip to Target, I found the Holmes Arm & Hammer Odor Grabber Air Purifier in the pet section for the reasonable price of $30. I was more than happy to spend that amount in an attempt to cut the litter box odors.
This product is basically a small air purifier with a filter that contains carbon, baking soda, and other odor absorbing compounds. It has a low and high fan level so you can control the air flow through the machine. I placed the Odor Grabber on a low bookshelf right next to the two large Rubbermaid containers that we use as litter bins.
After using this product for about a month now, it is clear that it is ineffective for my super-sized multi-cat situation. Even on the highest power 24/7, it still did not make a dent into our litter box odor which was disappointing. It may work for a one-cat home... maybe... but in my experience, it isn't even powerful enough to control the stink created in a freshly-cleaned litter box after one kitten "does their business" there.
Based on the results that I had with the Odor Grabber, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. I was ready to return it after a week but I couldn't find the receipt. I've used it for a month now and have been very disappointed with the results. This little device might be helpful for a one-pet home but I hightly doubt it.
