Holmes Heater - Compact Heater with Fan —

I bought this Holmes Compact Heater Fan last week because it's really cold here.  Due to high heating costs we keep the heat down pretty low in our house otherwise our bill would be over $300 a month.  We compensate for the low temps by using down throws and lots of layers but that doesn't help when getting out of the shower.  I'm not a morning person to begin with so when I get out of a hot shower and am hit with cold air it kind of ruins my day right off the bat.

So I set out to find a small space heater for my bathroom that I can run while I'm in the shower and emerge from the shower into a nice warm bathroom.  I found the heater at Lowe's for only $12.  It was small, inexpensive, and the side of the box stated that it was for small rooms so I figured it would work well for my large bathroom.

And it does!  While I'm running the water to get it hot I plug in the heater which is across the room from the shower and start it running on high.  It quickly heated up the room and made a huge difference before I got into the shower.  After showering I emerged from the tub into a super warm room and since the temperature was quite warm before lots of steam was created, the mirror did not become as foggy as it usually does.

This heater has enough power for heating my bathroom which is about 10x10 feet.  I'm not sure it would work well in a larger room but it works well in the bathroom. It has a low setting as well as just a fan setting but I like to be really warm so I just use it on high all the time.  It has auto shut off as well so if it tips over it will shut off by itself.  It is also fairly small (it would easily fit into a shoebox) so it takes up very little space.

5 stars - the Holmes Compact Heater Fan is a  good value, it heats up the room quickly and keeps me from experiencing the shock of being really warm and then being super cold.

Nope. Only 2200 square feet. We keep the heat at 64-68 during the day if we're home. At night and while out during the day we keep it at 60. The only time it goes over 70 is when my parents are over and then it goes back down when they leave. Our gas bills are generally about $220 in the coldest part of winter. We've also got an inefficient furnace so that doesn't help either. It sucks.

$300?? Dang. Do you live in a McMansion or what?

We have a set of these in our travel trailer.

Living in Minnesota, I can certainly relate! We've been in a "deep freeze" this past week. I own several of these small heaters and as I am writing I have a small, ceramic, Honeywell heater running beside me!

Sounds like a good idea. Heating costs are so high that it's a must to find alternative heating.

We have a heater in ours too, makes a big difference when you step out of the shower or tub. Great Review! Ron

I might buy one of these, but I'm still gonna take some chicken skin into the shower with me. I change my frighteningly eccentric rituals for NO ONE!

Can't do the super warm and super cold, eh? You'd make a terrible Finlander...
