This Holmes humidifier works for me every night making the air in my bedroom moistened. It holds a lot of water (2.8 gallons), so it's easy to just fill it up about once a week and then run it each night without having to bother about filling it up again. That said, I do keep it at the lowest setting, just so I can moisten the air a bit. This humidifier really did wonders for my breathing, and keeps my nose from getting dried out and uncomfortable during the winter. For allergy suffers like me, this is a huge relief and convenience. It's also easy to refill: you just simply take off the water holder unit from the base and fill it up. I'm a small, not particularly strong, petite person and I have no trouble lifting the tank with the water and carrying it from the sink back to my room. So, in my opinion, it's the perfect size: both for ease with carrying and refilling it, and with the fact that it holds enough water for the week. Output Volume Large 2.8 gallon tank holds enough water to last me for the week. Performance Moistens the air and gives me relief in breathing during the night. Ease of Cleaning Simply remove the tank from the base and wipe both the tank and base clean. Durability Runs every night without problems. Design Perfect size and shape for functionality and ease in refilling.

We have forced hot air and it's been giving my mom and I bloody noses for weeks. Went and picked this guy up and no bloody noses since, and all it took was a day to make a difference which impressed me considering I placed the product in a fairly large room. No filter required, just water, and if you fill it up that'll last you the day which is good because I don't have to worry about it being empty during the night. The only problem I've had with it is that it somehow gets clogged and water gets everywhere which is why I'm giving this product an 8. It's an easy fix, though and an easy clean up depending on where you put it. I'm also giving this product an 8 because it's a bit uncomfortable to fill it all the way up and carry it back to the base -- it gets very heavy. However, there is a handle to make that a little bit easier which is why I think this is a great product. Performance Does what I need it to do and more. Ease of Cleaning So quick and easy to clean! Durability Giving this an 8 because of the clogging issue I had. I've had this product for about a week and it's clogged up twice, but all I have to do to fix it is empty out the water and refill it again. Design Very sleek looking, holds a ton of water.

I've been using this humidifier almost non-stop for the last 2 1/2 months, and haven't had any serious issues with it - yet.   It typically needs refilling once a day, if you have it on the highest output setting.   If you have it on medium to low, you can run a few days - no problem.   I haven't had any trouble with leaking.   I do make sure the unit is on a hard (non-water damageable) surface -- not on wood or carpet - as I do notice that there is quite a bit of moisure that falls directly around the unit.   The water tank itself is a little difficult to fill.   You can't just set it in your sink and let it fill up, you have to stand and hold it - as the hole is on the bottom, and the top of the unit is not at all flat.   The plastic seems a bit brittle - like it might be easily cracked, but I HAVE NOT had this problem as of yet.   Once filled, the water tank is easily transported, since it has a convenient handle on the top.   I love the fact that there is no filters to replace.  My last humidifier's filter was almost impossibl to keep mold-free.   Be sure to follow the directions for cleaning on a frequent basis - you will get build-up fast.   As far as actually humidifying the room, I find this humidifier to be quite good.   I use it at a central place in my house, and I can keep the relative humidity above 30% at all times (quite impressive in my area).   It runs very quietly.  The worst things about it is the stream of steam coming out of it can look like smoke - from the corner of your eye!

I've never had a humidifier before so I don't have anything to compare this to, but so far, I *think *this unit is doing the job.  It provides a thick, continuous cool mist, lasting 12+ hours on one filling and on the highest setting. It's a bit tricky to fill, as the top is not flat, so after having it upside down under the faucet in my tub, I couldn't place it on the floor to screw in the cap. I would have to balance this heavy, filled tank on one edge with one hand and screw in the cap with the other.  I also worry that the entire contents will come gushing out in between the transit from the faucet to the unit. This humidifier is ridiculously quiet.  Even on the highest setting, it's barely audible. Every once and awhile you can hear it bubble a little as it filled the base but if you're asleep, it certainly would never wake you up.  And I am a light sleeper. In terms of it doing its job with humidifying, it's really hard to say.  I feel as if my skin is less dry and I wake up with less of a sore throat than before.  The energy consumption is low, so I am going to keep on using it throughout the winter.
