I recently wanted to get a small fan to set in the window of my apartment.  The windows are rather tall and narrow, so I needed a smaller fan, but not a fan that was so wimpy that it would not pull in enough cooler air. Luckily I found the Holmes Blizzard Personal Power Fan, which is great for moving lots of air and also fits in the narrow window.

This Holmes Blizzard Personal Power Fan is Model # HANF76BLZ. The fan's claim to fame is that it is powerful, although much smaller than a big box fan. The fan has two speeds which can easily be adjusted with a flush-mounted dial on the back. The fan's blades are have a 7'' diameter and the unit will tilt somewhat to direct the breeze upward.

One unusual aspect of this is that it can be mounted on a wall. There are two holes in the base for screws, and the Owner's Guide even has a template for measuring. I have no intention of mounting it on a wall though, since I use the fan in a window or set it on a table near the window.

The Holmes Blizzard Personal Power Fan has a few oddities too. The fan's base is quite large at nearly 11 inches across and 5 inches deep. While my fan does fit in my window, it's kind of a space hog if sitting on a table. Also, this personal fan is somewhat noisy. It doesn't make a low 'burrr' sound like a box fan or ceiling fan, but more of a higher pitched 'whir' sound. It sounds more like a kitchen fans found over a stove.

Overall I am satisfied with the Holmes Blizzard Personal Power Fan Model# HANF76BLZ. It moves a lot of air and has helped cool down my apartment at night. Although made of plastic it seems to be quite sturdy, which I think is true of most Holmes brand fans. The fan does take-up some room and is only sold in the color black, but that's fine for me and the $11 price cost wasn't too bad.  I recommend this fan for anyone who needs a smaller-sized fan that can generate a strong breeze blowing through their home.
