Holmes Compact Heater Fan with Thermostat —

This fan is compact and the housing and controls are all heavy-duty plastic, so no accidental burns! There is a metal coil inside, which heats up and the little fan blows the heat all around your room! It's small, but boy - does it pack a punch. It has a thermostat with nine heat settings. You can choose fan-only, low heat, or high heat. It automatically turns off and on to maintain the desired temperature. Fan-only is only useful for a little air circulation. It's not that strong. You couldn't use it in the summer as a fan.

I have had it in a pretty big room. I don't know the square footage, but it adequately heated the room, even when it wasn't all the way on high. It has an auto shut-off feature. If you tip it over, don't worry it won't keep going.

This was a very good buy. It's inexpensive (mine was around $30), and lasts a long time. I have had mine since 2001 and it's still going strong. Before that, I owned a much cheaper Holmes heater fan. It looked similar, but only had settings for high and low. It heated the room just as well but lasted about one and a half winters. I was so impressed with it, that I bought a new, more expensive one with the expectation that it too would only last that long. Turns out investing more dough really upped the quality.

If you're looking for a great, inexpensive heater fan, I strongly recommend Holmes products. A reliable product with a nice safety feature.

If you find one that saves energy, review it immediately, because I think we'd all love to get in on one of those! Thanks.

You HAVE made a good investment, and I apprecite your review. I'm always searching for the better fan as we have a very drafty old house. Now I'm searching for an energy-saving fan. THAT should be interesting.

Well, I tell ya DL, I got mine at the BX on Hill Air Force Base. That's probably not an option for you. :) I have seen these heaters at the big box stores and even some Walgreens. They are pretty popular. The one I have doesn't look like the one in the picture. They changed the design, but it is the same one.

Nice review. This is something I could use, since I am always cold. Where did you make your purchase? My crappy heater 1st died on me, second one leaked the oil. I have to send it back. My husband was thinking of me, when he made the purchase..
