Best overall ride in the ocean for the 50 to 60 crowd

I love to cruise. I have been on 11 cruises and 5 different cruise lines. Holland America's ship the Westerdam is one of their best. All of the Holland ships rate 5 stars in dining, but I believe the Westerdam served some of the finest meals from Breakfast and lunch on the Lido deck to dinner in the main dining room. We ate at the second sitting for dinner 6:15 P.M.which was perfect, not to early 500P.M. or not to late at 8:30 P.M. This allowed us plenty of time to partake in all the ship's activities. The Westerdam entertainment was 1st class. The singer Althea James was fantastic. The entertainers from the ship were also above average in singing and dancing, everything from Gershwin to Elvis. I love the excitment of a casino. The Westerdam's casino and staff left abit to be desired. The dealers didn't have much in the way of conversation, which can make a boring table. The casino which is usually packed after the shows seemed to be able to muster only a small crowd. The casino closed earlier then my other experiences on Holland. The itinerary for the Eastern Carribean consists of St. Thomas, Purto Rico, Bahamas and their private Island Half Moon Cay. If you love the beach you will go ga-ga over the island. The water is crystal clear and the ocean breezes lull you to sleep after eating all the barbeque the ship prepares for you right on the island. If you like Jewelry St. Thomas is the best for Duty-Free shopping. If you are a 1st time or and old pro you will get more then your money's worth by crusing on the Westerdam.
