The hubby and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in San Jose which is conveniently located next to the Light Rail near the airport. The Holiday Inn provides a free shuttle from the airport-- one just has to call the front desk and request a pick up after landing.
The landscaping at this hotel is absolutely beautiful. Towering palm trees surround the pool grounds with flowers in planters and canna lilies spread everywhere. The scent of jasmine and hibicus floats around the pool. The pool is heated, and I mean heated. It was 50 degrees outside and I was expecting a cold pool, so when I hit the water, I was pleasantly surprised at the bath-like feel of the water. The hubby and I stayed in the pool all morning and didn't want to leave.
When we checked into our room, we were surprised to find a run-down room. The furniture was scratched and there was no bathtub, just a shower. The TV did not work. There was no way that I was going to spend three nights without a place to sink into a tub. The front desk immediately moved us into a renovated room with a working tv.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom had a granite countertop and the usual amneties: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap and a shower cap.
The most unusual part of the Holiday Inn was the "Pillow Menu." We could choose from a variety of pillow types to sleep on. I've never encountered this service at any other hotel.
I can't say enough about the staff there-- everyone, and I mean everyone, was friendly and very helpful. When we inquired about places to eat, we were provided with a list of restaurants in the area and instructions of where to go on the Light Rail.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again, assuming we could avoid the rooms that need to be renovated.
