Holiday Inn East Hartford - East Hartford, CT — 

We were so excited to be travelling and going to a Hotel with an indoor swimming pool.  Because we have 5 kids the pool was such an incentive.  We paid a little extra for the rooms and ordered 2 rooms....1 with a King bed and 1 with Double beds.  We paid for it 1 month in advance to have gauranteed late arrival.  When we arrived, we were very impressed with the inside of the lobby.  Once we got closer to our first room, the smell that was protruding out was awful.  We opened the door and it was for the King room that had the awful smell.  We immediately went to the 2nd room and that one was fine.  My husband went and complained to the front desk where we were told that we could not get a king room and would have to settle for a double room.  To me this is not acceptable.  Businesses do not downgrade customers when their is an issue.  Customers are either upgraded or compensated for their trouble.  This to me, indicates that This Holiday Inn is not customer oriented.  Also, my husband and the children stated that the pool was not a comfortable temperature. It was extremely cold.  I will not return to this hotel and do not reccommend this hotel to anyone.   I am a Customer Service Representative and based this decision on how the Management handle this situation.
