HoMedics - SoundSpa Clock Radio With Time Projection —

Well, my ten year old simple clock radio bit the dust about two months ago.  I used it daily as an alarm since I am not one of those people that wake up at the crack of dawn.  I usually hit the snooze button at least three times.  Needless to say, I was in a hurry to get a replacement.  While I was out shopping at Wal-Mart, I found this really cool clock that I just had to have.  It was the HoMedics - SoundSpa Clock Radio With Time Projection and it was under $30!

The Facts

  • AM/FM clock radio with LCD display
  • Six peaceful nature sounds: ocean, waterfall, summer night, rainforest, thunder and rain
  • Projects the time in soothing blue light
  • Wake to nature sounds, radio or beep tone
  • Snooze
  • Model SS-4500

My Experience

With all the bells and whistles that this alarm clock had, I figured it would be difficult to set everything up.  I was wrong because the instructions were easy to understand and a snap to do.  The digital time is displayed on the clock radio and you have the option of using the projection light too.  The time projection was one of the reasons I made this purchase.  I never seen anything like this before and thought it would be convenient to have.  Okay, so it wasn't so much convenience as it was that it was a really cool feature.  The projection can be angled in different directions, which I like.  Another reason I love this clock is that there are six different nature sounds that I can fall asleep to.  It seems as soon as I lay my head down on the pillow and close my eyes, my mind decides it is going to wake up and I can't sleep.  Now that I have this clock, I just simply push a button to make a selection of what soothing sound I want to hear and I am off to sleep.  I have the choice of either letting the sound continually play or I can set it for 15-60 minutes and it will turn off by itself.  My favorite sound is the rainfall.  There is nothing better than sleeping to the sound of rain falling.  Some sounds are better than others are.  The waterfall just simply sounds like noise but the rest are fine.  A bit of repetitiveness but I still like it.  The sound of the radio isn't the best but I am not using at as my main source of sound entertainment.  It works well for what it is intended for.

My Final Viewpoint

The HoMedics - SoundSpa Clock Radio With Time Projection is a unique clock radio that I really enjoy.  I will be purchasing another for my son who wants one for Christmas.  For under $30, this is a fun, functional and effective clock radio.  If you are looking for superior sound, buy something a little more expensive.  I use mine simply as a sleep aid and an alarm clock.  I recommend it and think it deserves a 4 star rating.

We got this after using a much cheaper model that conked out after a few months. I love the Homedics model - the surf sounds are my fave, and having the option to see the time on the ceiling is cool. The only thing I find is that the sounds are so soothing, I can easily block out the alarm noise in the morning.

Yes .. as I said in my review, there is a quite a bit of repetitiveness. I guess if I was to spend more, I would get less looping.

Does it loop is the question. Does it loop! lol.

I love this clock! I have one at home but can't use it right now because my cat chewed through the wire and the battery feature doesn't work. Great review!
