A great place, but don't go when the seasons change

leisure and business traveller, a frequent traveler, expecting good, fair service, seeking the comforts of home

I liked almost everything about this hotel. The room was large and comfortable, they offered free wireless internet access, the location was great with an enclosed walkway to the convention center, and there are three good places to eat on the premises - 4 if you count Starbucks. The service was excellent, as well.

I have only 2 complaints. First, the hotel's heating/cooling system can only be operated in 1 mode at a time and to change from one to the other requires intervention on the part of the hotel engineering staff. So, if you happen to arrive, like I did, on the eve of the season's first cold snap, you can't just dial up the heat when the temperature dips into the 40's because the system is still set up to provide air conditioning. My first night was cool, but not unpleasant. My second night was downright cold. I pulled the comforter off the 2nd bed and put on mine to stay warm.

Second, there were only a few TV channels available. This drives me nuts and it is so common. If you stay at the Hampton Inn, for example, you get 2-3 dozen channels. But when you stay at an expensive "up-scale" hotel, you get less than 10. Come on, guys. If the mid-price hotels can offer 50 channels in a $100/night room, how come you can't manage to do it in a $250/night room?
