Island vacations are often enjoyable and relaxing but many of the best islands are expensive to get to because they require purchasing a plane ticket or taking a cruise to reach the island's shores. Fortunately, there are a few nice islands that are close enough to the U.S. mainland that no special transportation is necessary to get there. One island that is easy to reach is Hilton Head, an island located in southern South Carolina on the Atlantic coast.

My family and I began vacationing on HHI in the mid 1970's. We bought a condo and rented it (and used it ourselves as often as we could) for 12 years. We love HHI so much we moved here permantly 7 years ago.
The weather is a main attraction. We rarely cancel golf due to weather, and that means year round. There is very little worry about hurricanes, I just hope we don't get too complacent about this, since we rarely get bad storms.
There are tons of activities. At any given time if you cannot find something to do you are not looking. Several tourist magazines are free and displayed at most...
