Most HelpfulAlmost three years ago, the entire Xeno brood ventured up to Melbourne, FL to visit a Miniature Schnauzer breeder. By the time we turned around we were leaving with a little frisky Schnauzer pup and a big bag of Hill's Science Diet Dry Puppy Small Bites dog food.
Immediately named Brandy she seemed to...

Most HelpfulScience Diet is not a bad dog food. There are dogs out there who have had problems with it, but there are also dogs who have had problems with other dog food brands as well.
The main reason that you see this food in your vet's office, is because Hill's, the company who makes Science Diet, has vets promoting it, in exchange for little "freebies" that they are given.
Hill's have their fingers in almost piece of the dog industry. I was in the Air Force (the largest professional, commercial dog kennels in the world at Lackland AFB, Texas), for 15 years as a K-9 handler. The military dogs were fed...
review »Science Diet is in every vet. clinic for a reason. The company that makes it sponsors almost every veterinarian program in every college or university. Huge kick-backs are given for selling as much as they can.
This food is not dangerous and it does the job of putting something in your dogs stomach every day but is a poor choice.
Look at the ingredients on this "light" dog food. Ground peanut shells made me shake my head. There are so many indigestible fillers in this food that most of it just ends up in the back yard as waste, doing nothing for your pooch. You could feed another brand and just...
review »I have found the best of both worlds. A Vet. who has been practicing for MANY Years, plus he's also into Natural/Herbal/Alternative care for animals. A few yrs. ago when I took my dog in for a initial visit. He asked me what I fed my Dog. I said "Science Diet". That's when he told me "You giving your dog that food is like you eating soup for your diet". I REALLY trust this Vet. Because my Sister has taken her animals to him for many, many years. He has kept alive her Boston Terrier who has bladder cancer. 2 years ago the Specialists that she'd taken her dog to, said there was...

Have used Science diet for many years canned and dry. It has gotten way to expensive.
The last bag of dry dog food I bought I also noticed a smell that really wasn't that pleasant.
My dogs love the food and have done really well on it but unfortunately with it costing almost $40.00 for a bag and $2.00 a can will no longer be feeding this product will look for less expensive product that is as close to this as I can find.
We have a golden retriever who has eaten science diet since she was a puppy. She is now about to be 15 years old and she's so healthy! She has a few more years in her too and i know a lot of that is thanks to Science Diet!
