This was the first dog brand that I purchased when I first got my dog over a year ago. I first started buying him the puppy food this company made. Now he's much larger and I have to buy this brand for large dogs. Hill's Science Diet was actually recommended to me by my vet as I was told it was one of the best dog foods brands. In my opinion, the price is a little high, but then it's a better dog food. I have found that it's cheaper than other brands that have natural ingredients. I would recommend it if you just got a new dog and are looking for a quality dog food. Quality of Ingredients Hill's Science Diet Adult Large Breed Dry Dog Food has good quality ingredients. The first ingredient is chicken, so it does have more chicken in it than anything else. The only thing I don't like is there seems to be a lot of gluten and grains in the food, but it's a dry dog food so I should expect this. However, when you compare it to the ingredients in other dog food it's definitely a better dog food. You can at least pronounce all the ingredients in Hill's Science Diet. Flavor Selection My dog seems to like the flavor. It's not one of his favorite foods, but it's not full of junk-food, which is what I like. I think that cheaper foods add something to their dog food to make a dog want to eat it because he doesn't eat this as fast as other cheaper dog foods. For this reason, you can tell it doesn't have bad additives like some dog food does.

I started feeding my German Shepherd Science Diet when he was a puppy because he had issues with diarrhea. We started with the puppy formula and he did not have any other issues with diarrhea until we tried to switch him to another brand of dog food when he was a year old. After switching him to the other brand of dog food, he started having diarrhea again and also started vomiting up bile several hours after eating. We switched him to the Hill's Science Diet Adult Large Breed dry dog food and we have not had any issues with diarrhea or vomiting since switching him back. He is now four years old and is a very happy, healthy dog. His coat always seems to be shiny and full when he is getting this food. We have never had an issue with him not wanting to eat this food either. He loves the food and eats very well. This food is a little more expensive than other dog foods, but I would say that you get what you pay for. When you buy the cheaper foods, your dog is not going to be as healthy. This food has kept my dog healthy and happy. Quality of Ingredients This dog food has high quality ingredients. Flavor Selection There are not a large variety of flavors in the Science Diet dry food brand but the food is specialized to the size of dog you have and your dogs needs.

If you have a large breed dog, Hill's Science Diet Large Breed is the way to go.  I feed it to my Boxers.  They do great on it.  You can often find it on sale at PetCo or PetSmart.  Most vets also carry it, but it will probably be expensive at your vet's office.  If your large breed dog is a little heavy, they also make it in a light version.  Hill's also has a Web site where you can register and get free coupons through the mail.

My yellow Lab loves this food. She is always eager to eat. It does not upset her stomach like some other foods. I like it because it is designed for larger dog needs. The large bags also give me a workout lifting them.I would like to be able to find more coupons for this product.

We have a 5 year old Yellow Lab named Xander. He is a 5 year old puppy! He is active, and loves to play. He loves to fetch and go for walks. We need a food that will help him be at his best, to be healthy for him, and help maintain his weight and fur coat. We have fed him this dog food since we got him when he was 6 weeks old. There were a few times where we tried to switch to cheaper brands, but have always ended up switching back to the Science Diet. Labrador Retrievers are notorious for having "touchy" stomachs, and our dog is no different. Most every other dog food we have tried has bothered his stomach, and he will have the runs for a month at a time (we were told that you have to try the new food for at least a couple weeks). The Large Breed formula is great and specially formulated for dogs that have to maintain a healthy weight, and keep their energy levels where they should be. Anyone who has had a lab understands that they tend to stay in thier "puppy stage" for about 10 years, then they are a "rug dog" (meaning they are always laying on the floor taking a nap in the exact spots you need to walk on). Great dog food, worth every penny!

Science diet dog food is good for dogs. Its dealthy and many vets sell alot of it. My dogs like it alot and think it is pretty healthy for them too. It has many good ingridients that are healthy for dogs. There are also many different formulas to fit your dogs unique lifes.
