Expensive, but worth the price.

Right after I found that my cat's digestive tract was messed up, this is the canned cat food I started buying for her. Lucky for me, I had a friend that worked for Pet Smart, so he purchased the food for me with his discount and I paid him. It is a very expensive canned cat food. That is the reason I do not feed it to her anymore. I simply just cannot afford it. That being said, it is a wonderful food. It helps to coat the digestive tract to help her food digest easier, without making her sick like a lot of other foods do. Also, this Hill's brand canned cat food really was wonderful for her fur and weight. Her coat looked incredibly healthy and was very soft. She also maintained an acceptable weight for her age and just seemed healthier when I was feeding her this canned cat food. I really wish it were less expensive because I do not think she has responded to a food the way she responded to this one. I would definitely recommend this canned cat food for any pet that has serious trouble with their digestive tract.

Good for cat with digestive issues

My cat has IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) and has a sensitive stomach and is very picky about foods. For the past 2 years, she has had several severe bouts of vomiting and diarrhea which have required her to be taken to the vet for fluids and vitamins and a few times, even hospitalized over night to get her eating properly again. I have tried lots of different premium and/or grain-free diets (Merrick, Weruva, Orijen, etc) but she either refuses to eat them or still has a flare up while one them after a few months. My vet recommended we try id, and she has been doing really well on it so far. Currently she is free feeding on the dry food, and I feed her half a can on the soft food daily. She has always been extremely picky about soft food, so it has been pretty shocking that she has been eating (and sometimes even "asking" for) the soft food every day. I think soft food is really important for cats (and mine in particular) because of the water content and would definitely recommend feeding your cat a can daily if he/she likes soft food. I would highly recommend Hills prescription id diet to anyone with a cat with digestive issues. It has made my kitty happy and healthier so far. Flavor Selection Only one option

Gentle on my sick cats weak stomach.

My older cat had been having problems with digesting her food. She had gotten to the point of having a very weak stomach and not keeping her food down.I feed her this as a way of supplementing her diet of kibble food since she eats sparingly. This has helped to regulate her digestion of her food.It contains nutrients which aid in that and the ingredients aren't as heavy it seems as other types of canned cat food. She really loves the taste of it.She considers it a treat and never leaves any behind.I like that she enjoys something so much that is improving her gastrointestinal health and supplementing her diet. She's always been able to keep this down.I've never had any problems with that. It's gentle on her stomach. This is helping her to get through her sickness very well.Improving her stomach problems combined with medicating. All while she really enjoys the taste of it.

Science Diet i/d Canned Cat Food helped my sick cat.

My 7 year old cat has been sick for the past month or so.  The vet hasn't quite figured out exactly what is going on, but in the mean time I've been giving her [Ringer's Solution Subcutaneous Fluids][1]  every other day and [Tylosin powder][2]  sprinkled onto *Science Diet i/d Canned Cat Food*. This is a "prescription" food that is sold only in veterinarian offices.  It is formulated to be gentle on the digestive system and designed for cats with gastrointestinal issues including food allergies and even surgery.  Despite my issues with the ingredients, *Science Diet i/d Canned Cat Food* has certainly been an important part of my cat's treatment.  I realize that she is also getting fluids and antibiotics, so this food isn't solely responsible for her improvement but it is helping us to keep her in good health while we work out what is causing her digestive issues.  Recommended. [1]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Ringers-Solution-Subcutaneous-Fluids-review-7aa71 [2]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Tylosin-Tylan-Powder-review-51a4 Quality of Ingredients The main ingredients include pork liver, pork by-products, chicken, wheat flour, chicken fat, corn starch, brewers rice, dried beet pulp, and assorted vitamin and mineral supplements.  I really don't love that collection of ingredients to be honest.  I go out of my way to avoid by-products and to buy foods that have meat or meat meal as the primary ingredients.  Also wheat is a known allergen, so I'm not quite sure why it is included in a food that is described as being suitable for cats with food allergies. Flavor Selection There is only one version of Science Diet i/d Canned Cat Food.
