Hewlett Packard - Photosmart Mz67 Digital Camera Review

I got the HP Photosmart Mz67 as an upgrade for my Olympus C-765. Although the megapixels on the HP is better the zoom is slightly inferior. At 6x it is just over half of the Olympus at 10x. It does have a digital zoom but, just like any camera, the more of the digital zoom you use the lower the quality of you photo. The megapixels are double that of the Olympus, but for certain outdoor naturaul light shots, is not as good.

There is no viewfinder for this camera which is not good.I didn't klnow it would be a bother until I tried to take a picture in full daylight. It is very difficult to see the screen. So needless to say I either forego certain shots or get an inferrior shot.

I am not pleased with the fact that I have to open the battery compartment to access my memory card.The plus side to that is that I don't lose all the info I programed into the camera. So it must retain the charge for a short time to maintain the info. It is also nice that it uses a standard AA battery. And only two. I choose to use NiCad for my camera. The initial expense is worth it in the long run.

The user interface is easy to use and to navigate through. It comes with several shooting modes to choose from. My personal favorites are the close up and super close up modes. It has image stabalization even in these modes. But it does not allow the user to create a custom shoot mode. It allows for burst shots (up to 3) at a time. This is also where you set up the data on you camera; time, date, etc..  

The buttons are easy enough to use as well. No "fat finger" error while trying to select a function. And with me that is important.

Over all even with the drawbacks it's still a decent camera. I suppose if I wanted a camera to do everything I wanted I should have spent the $1,200.00 instead of the $159.00 that I spent.
