I've had mine for almost a year now and am very satisfied for the dollar. I just recently found the key to a more satisfying experience with Vista and that is the addition of another 1 Gb of ram (Now a maximum total of 2Gb) for $70 at Best Buy. It significantly increased the operating speed. I also bought the docking station which I have to say made replacing my desktop PC easier to accept. The mouse was a battery eater, so I replaced it with another. The 17" screen is super and all the features HP provides for a laptop in this price range is almost ridiculous. I dont miss my old HP desktop at all and even though my wife's Sony is clocked much faster than mine, I will say the dual processor AMD chip is in strong competition with hers. Overall, a good machine for the price and an excellent value overall.
