Hewlett Packard HP Pavillion DV6000 Laptop Review Summary
Hewlett Packard has sailed past Dell to become the world’s largest computer maker, and stellar reasonably priced produces like the HP Pavilion DV6000 Laptop computer might be one of the reasons why. Our community of reviewers overwhelmingly likes this stylish laptop lauding its portability, performance, and ease of use among other features. However, some reviewer complained of the plethora of “throw-away” software HP includes with the unit as well as its short battery life. This a good computer for basic use for the price (<$900). It is the HP Pavilion DV6000 with AMD Turion, 1.6 GHz and an Nvidia 6150 graphics card. I use it for web surfing, emails, IM's and creating documents and DVD's. It has the Vista operating system and I had to buy a new version of Office (word, excel, etc.) for this laptop. It came pre-loaded with some software I've found useful like moviemaker, windows DVD maker and Quicktime. I was able to quickly download some video from my digital movie camera (which is why I wanted a firewire port) and within a few hours had cut a DVD for…

s a student, obtaining a laptop was my ultimate goal earlier last year so that I could take notes faster in class, plus have access to a computer on the go in order to keep up with my homework. So I set out to get what I thought would be the ultimate "toy" that would help with not only homework, but on the road entertainment with a DVD player and a carry-with-me machine which houses the Sims families I play with on a regular basis. — — After several days of researching the HP machines amongst the Sonys and several other brands I hadn't heard of before, I settled on the HP…

computer addict, loving this product
My Mom got this for herself...well, it didn't work out that way. I use it way more than she does. Shedidn't know if she would like a laptop when she got it ..now she won't go back to a desktop. Neither will I! Why get stuck in a corner of a room when you can do the same thing from anywhere in the house/////? The only drawback, big drawback that is, is the battery. You won't be able to go away from a power source for more than a few hours with the battery that comes with this and the screen on battery power is pretty dim. Otherwise, this is a great little laptop and tough. Has been dropped a…

Happy laptopper, married, appreciative of good service
When we ordered this laptop at the beginning of the year, we went with a laptop versus a desktop, so we could be where our kids were. This has been a huge plus for our boys so we can be in the same room with them. They love looking at pictures and playing games on the internet with us. We used to stuck in our office and the boys would have to come find us. — I also love the fact that we can take it with us when we go on vacation. That way I am able to upload the pictures instantly and view them. We are also able to watch movies and listen to…

I've been using this laptop for a couple of years now, and it's been a great workhorse. I'm online constantly, working with Web files, multimedia files, and, well, lots of "work" stuff, and I haven't had any trouble. Luckily, I got my laptop before the Windows Vista release and even though I did get the free Windows Vista CD, I haven't installed it. I'll stick with Windows XP as long as I can! — The only warning I have is that the hard drive I have isn't nearly big enough. I recommend you get the biggest hard drive you can possibly afford. —…

When I purchased this laptop, I brought it home, and there was no operating system installed. HP could not do anything about it, and luckily the store let me exchange it for another one. The second one had a bad CD/DVD drive, and after talking with their customer service agents, they sent me a whole new drive for free. They have excellent support, but I would have liked the machines to work correctly the first time. Other than that, the laptop is great, although I am not a fan of windows vista. The webcam is great and everything (including voice recognition) is easy to use. —…

This is a horrible computer. It's had so many problems in the 7 months I've had it that I've lost count. The service is also terrible. I sent it in because the SERVICE ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM failed and I was told I'd have it back in 2 weeks. We are now going on the 7th week of waiting. The only thing good I can say is at least they call you on the day it's supppose to ship to tell you it's going to be 2 more weeks. I just bought my son a new laptop for graduation and I didn't even look at HP, went straight for the…

I love my Hewlett Packard HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop. It is my first laptop, and I have had very little complaints with it. Even Vista, which I hear a lot of negative things about, hasn't given me any problems. The QuickPlay feature is one of my favorites, and DVD's look great. It comes equipped with Word 2007, which is hard to get use to at first, but I wouldn't go back to anything else. The main thing I don't like about it is the battery life- it seems short. But, overall, I love…

I've been a realtor for the last few years and finally had to break down and buy myself a laptop. I had a friend who worked with HP that helped me through the process. When it finally arrived, I was amazed at how fast it was! I don't really care for the HP control center but the new Internet Explorer is fantastic! I really couldn't be happier and I've been telling all of my colleagues about it. We've had 3 new agents purchase the same laptop…

Was worried that I had bought a new computer and would not like Vista - So far it has been just a little confusing because I'm used to a lot more commands. The HP is a brand I have come to trust over the years. The screen is very clear and easy to read. Am having a whole new learning experience. Now the grandkids tell me I'm "with it". Any updates can only improve the preformance of this unit. …

Bought this laptop about one and a half years ago, no problems so far, easy to use. Have dropped it a couple of times without any ill effects (not recommended). This was and is my first laptop, didn't know if I would like it or not, but now I can't see myself without it. Only downside is that it has Vista installed and still don't like that but guess that I might as well get used to…

I love the HP Pavillion dv6000. I got it about a month ago and could not live without it. We travel constantly and staying in touch is important to our business. This laptop keeps me in touch.
