Hewlett Packard HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer —

The Bottom Line:  This is one very easy to use with quality results unit.

We just bought the HP 5610 on sale at Staples for $134, got it home & right away it was ready to print, scan, fax & copy. Black ink is still #56 which my 3 in 1 printer that my husband took uses & we get 3 for $45 at BJs. Then it wants a #22 for color ink & a #58 for photo ink, same as my 3 in 1. I very seldom use color ink so the little cartridge with it will be fine.

I am amazed that the black print is laser printer quality. The only problem is every time I turn on the computer I must goto FILE, then PAGE SETUP, then PRINTER then COLOR to hit Grayscale & black cartridge or you can get color from web sites. Why it doesn't just make it permanent is besides me. My husband puts black cartridge in both sides but this unit will not allow it. Guess the 20's are smaller than the 50's as the salesman told us to buy #56 for black since we get more ink.

II just talk lady-like telling folks why I love this unit. I did a page from a book with the lid half open & got total white frame without the black outline that many $400 printers have. Again the print quality was laser like, very clean & precise. Then I faxed it to a friend & she said it came over perfectly. You can fax thru the top slot or from the scanner/copier area. I will stick with the scanner area unless I am doing multi pages then that is top slot.

We did a 8x10 photo on a sheet of photo paper and my husband computed the cost of it & WalMart is loads cheaper for a 1 day wait. The photo ink cartridge is quite high so we didn't buy it unless it comes in a package deal at BJs. So if you want to copy a photo for a relative or friend, then you change the color cartridge for the printer cartridge to print. I also would urge you to get photo paper for the quality is 80% better than printer paper.

This unit is very easy to clean & keep it looking new without covering it as some folks do. So I am 100% pleased with the purchase & another HP quality product.  The buttons are also well aligned so you don't accidentally hit the wrong one. Phone is a 10 key adding machine style, so I can dial fast & save a frequently called number to the 5 spaces available.

This is just one incredibly easy to use unit that was half the price of many that we saw. HP is quality so I feel we made the right choice.

I also love mine. I have had mine several years now. When you go to file and set up the print and change from color to black you must select apply otherwise it resets to default. The color is expensive to print all your photos and a regular film developer is more reasonable. Look forward to many years of faithful service.
