If you are just starting out as a crafter or in a beach kiosk, the DeskJet 920c is a good printer to buy. It is inexpensive (around $170), it prints with black ink (refill kit: $10) and color (tricolor refill kit: $15), and it DOES accept heavier paper as with invitations and flyers. The receiving tray folds up, and the sleek, dome design allows this little critter (17x16x8 inches) to be transported easily (it weighs 13lbs) without fear of breaking off pieces here and there.

expensive cartridges

The HP920C has good print quality but the replacement ink cartridges are more expensive than some other printers. My printer has lasted for over 4 years. The printer was less than $100 (probably less now) and held up well through grad school.
