If you are just starting out as a crafter or in a beach kiosk, the DeskJet 920c is a good printer to buy. It is inexpensive (around $170), it prints with black ink (refill kit: $10) and color (tricolor refill kit: $15), and it DOES accept heavier paper as with invitations and flyers. The receiving tray folds up, and the sleek, dome design allows this little critter (17x16x8 inches) to be transported easily (it weighs 13lbs) without fear of breaking off pieces here and there.

The DeskJet 920c features PhotoREt III color technology, so that quality pictures are available at a lower cost. This makes it possible to instantly print family photos to pass around at a reunion. For the entrepreneur, tourist souvenirs can be produced in less than 10 minutes (get a photo or take a photo, print and transfer to mugs, t-shirts, keychains, etc.). For organizations, flyers, booklets, and minutes of a meeting are reproduced faithfully. And for teachers, you can print transparencies with this ink! Believe me - I have and I am satisfied with the results. If there has to be a mass printing, may I suggest a copier? This printer wasn't made for mass printing. First, it's an injet, and secondly, it's just a little thing not capable of big workloads.

This machine is not for someone who wants a multi-functional machine. It does not fax, scan, turn somersaults or call your broker. It simply prints in color. Given good paper and a nice presentation (photo or letter or flyer), excellent results can be achieved. This is also not a machine for those who like to fill the in-basket with paper. It can accept many different paper weights, but in doing so, if given a filled in-basket (it holds 100 pages of medium weight paper) it will grab multiple pages and jams will result. It's not for 25page manuscripts, but if you want one-at-a-time multicolored, high resolution (2,400 x 1,200 dpi on premium photo papers) flyers on heavy paper, this is the machine for you. Please keep in mind that we are talking about an injet. The colors might bleed, so care must be taken to preserve the image.

Have I found anything to dislike about this machine. No, not yet. It has accepted every task I have given it. I have a multifunctional printer for most home use and general printing, but the DeskJet 920c is what I use for the real work. Some people say it is slow (9 pages per minute), but given my job list, it is just right. It has a cancel option, low ink indicator, 90-day warranty, can be used with PC & Mac, and all the whistles and bells needed on a basic printer. I like it!
