Hertz —

I had originally given Hertz a rave review.  However after being rear ended and getting a rental from Hertz through a different insurance I was mortified, upset and down right angry at this company.  I quickly realized it wasn't Hertz who was good it was my insurance I had at the time (AAA) who took care of everything.

After I received my payoff check (from my car being totaled) my rental car was no longer covered under the old insurance.  Well I couldn't buy a new car without a car to take me to the dealership.  So I kept the rental while trying to work with the insurance to have the rental covered.

When I did take it back to Hertz the guy (not a gentlemen) was very rude and snobby.  He did not care about me at all.  I told him that we could not talk to a supervisor from the insurance until the next day and if he could please hold off charging me for the rental.  His response, "There is no supervisor to talk to?"

Me: "No they won't be in until tomorrow."

Him: "What about their supervisor?"

Me: "No supervisor whatsoever."

The whole time he had this I don't care about you, you're bugging me, please (without the please) leave attitude.  So he gets on the phone with his manger (who never comes out to talk with us) and starts telling that guy that we're waiting for a supervisor and how basically he doesn't think we tried hard enough to talk to a supervisor, all while I'm standing right in front of him!  Very rude!  He couldn't go into the back or have the manager come out?!  I tell the guy I don't have the money in my account ($500) and not to charge my card.  So after a while the guy at the desk says, "here's your receipt."  I just about blew up.  I went back to my car and cried (my mom said I should have cried in front of him).

There was nothing I could do at that moment to fight this because the guy was being a total ass and he did not care about me at all.  If Hertz cared about their customers they would have worked with me and given me at least a day to figure out what was going on.  They did not go above and beyond and they have lost a potential lifetime customer.  I am only 27 years old and have a lifetime of possible car renting.

Hertz claimed to try and work with me by calling and trying to contact me.  I never once received a call from Hertz or a message on my phone to call them back.  The times my boyfriend called they said they would call back in 10 minutes, 30 minutes later still no call.  Hertz does not help their customers.

And to top it off (actually at the beginning) the guy almost ran my boyfriend over.  He was walking across the parking lot and the guy who helped us came flying around the corner in a car.  He slammed on the brakes and gestured my boyfriend across with this look of "get the hell out of my way" on his face.  When I told the guy (before I left) to please slow down because he almost hit my boyfriend he just responded with okay, like sure, whatever.  He did not even care.

We have since put a call into the main office (with no response back).  My next move is to contact them in writing and let them know how we were treated.  After that a letter will go out to the local papers to let people know how I was treated.  There is no need for a company who relies on customer business to treat their customers that way.  There are other rental companies who treat their customers well that I am going to recommend.
